Job Details

Employees in this role have responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, selection of areas for investigation, development, and implementation of novel concepts. Technologies of interest include solar PV, battery storage, transmission and distribution, electric vehicles, utility-scale wind, and more.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert (SME) of innovation in assigned subject areas

  • Manage small to medium level projects without direct reports

  • Communicate technical concepts to stakeholders and provide data-driven recommendations

  • Maintain familiarity with industry and company progress and problems in assigned technical areas

  • Research, develop, and implement appropriate ML algorithms and tools to optimize the performance and design of renewable energy systems

  • Collaborate and lead with national and international industry subject matter experts

  • Engage with research community and technology developers to guide and inform technology development targets

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams for problem solving, betterment opportunities, and systems integration

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Work Experience

  • Expertise in two or more of the following areas:
    • Solar photovoltaic design

    • Battery storage system design

    • Geospatial data analysis and forecasting

    • AI applications in renewable energy

  • Proven analytical capabilities in two or more of the following areas:
    • Creating models, performing statistical analysis, and optimizing system performance

    • Designing and developing machine learning and deep learning systems

    • Solar resource assessment

    • Optimal solar and storage sizing

  • Shows maturity of technical expertise and assumes responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Educational Requirements

One of the following education and experience combinations:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field from an ABET accredited program
    • 5+ years of proven experience

  • Masters in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
    • 3+ year of proven experience

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field (Preferred)
    • 0-2 year of proven experience
