  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, or a related field (Advanced degree preferred)

As part of the Worldwide Environment team, Amazon’s Worldwide Carbon team is dedicated to working across the company with our business units to make operational changes to accelerate solutions and decarbonize our businesses in service of The Climate Pledge.

This program leader will own defining and executing a supply chain carbon assessment roadmap with several of our most important business units. They will collaborate cross-functionally across the central sustainability team and the global business teams in Operations, Facilities, AWS, Transportation, Products, and Retail. This program leader must be a self-starter with proven skills in driving key initiatives with results through external and internal partners and have a solid business acumen. They will be a problem solver and be resourceful, able to drive change, creative and willing to work with and through others to be successful. Effective executive communication skills and analytical thinking are necessary for driving a high level of impact.

This role will be responsible for enhancing our supplier carbon-scoring and assessment framework and work with other WWS teams to scale that framework through product requirements, ultimately aiming to embed supplier sustainability assessments into procurement decisions. This role will bring your proven analytical and project management capabilities to imagine, plan, implement and optimize our reach for decarbonization deep into our supply chain.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive a culture of insights across the Supplier Decarbonization and broader Carbon team. This includes: delivering timely insights to the science, engagement, and reporting teams via presentations and workshops with attendance open to all of Worldwide Sustainability and business unit POCs
  • Develop framework to assess suppliers carbon performance (alongside other sustainability performance indicators)
  • Incorporate sustainability metrics into the supplier evaluation and selection process (over time, ensuring they are weighted appropriately alongside traditional criteria like cost and quality)
  • Implement systems to track and report on supplier decarbonization progress.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with Supply Chain Standards, decarbonization targets, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Investigate the use of AI to automate and scale supplier assessments to support our broader supplier engagement work, including developing product requirements in partnership with Supply Chain Tech and Sustainability Science teams.

  • 5+ years of experience in a sustainability, supply chain, or data analysis role, preferably with a focus on supplier engagement and decarbonization initiatives
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing supplier sustainability assessment frameworks, carbon scoring models, and supplier performance tracking systems
  • Deep understanding of sustainability concepts, greenhouse gas accounting, and supply chain decarbonization strategies.
  • Familiarity with relevant sustainability standards, regulations, and reporting frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, CDP, SASB)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to executive-level stakeholders

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
