Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)
The Power Operations Rotation Engineer Program is a 24 + month program designed to provide a variety of Power Operations Business/Analytics Operations/and Engineering analysis assignments, resulting in broad, hands-on exposure to multiple Power Operations areas. Incumbents provide operational, analytical and technical support by rotating through four to six Calpine departments at three to nine month intervals. After successful completion of program, the program management team will evaluate the employee’s performance in connection with the needs of the business, and determine the appropriate connection for both.
Engineers will work closely with all levels of the Power Operation Team to support plant maintenance, operations, conduct analysis through modeling, work on projects in the area of business risk assessment, and other various projects. Responsible for start, stop and monitoring of equipment including reading gauges and meters and recording activities in operating logs and records. Uses computers and monitoring equipment to measure, record and make adjustments within operating parameters. Performs a variety of plant maintenance tasks including diagnosis, maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment in a safe, efficient and economical manner. Performs overhaul maintenance and system improvement tasks. Provide engineering services for the troubleshooting, maintenance, design, and configuration management of existing power plants. Will be conducting analysis on the plant performance efficiency, and strategy changes, supporting model development to assist in evaluation of operational performance. Responsible for complex, technical work in a wide range of EHS disciplines to maintain compliance with the organization’s EHS standards, federal and state regulatory requirements, and consensus industry standards. Reviews and interprets EHS rules and regulations and advises management accordingly. Compiles and prepares reports. Conducts special financial and business related studies which may include the development of ad hoc and custom reporting involving the determination of metrics and identifying and integrating data sources.
