Your role as a Assistant Project Manager
As an Assistant Project Manager at Alaska Village Electric Cooperative, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the Project Manager in the execution of high-value electric utilities projects exceeding one million dollars. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve adapting to rapidly shifting priorities, requiring flexibility and efficient problem-solving skills. You will also lead smaller projects valued at up to one million dollars, giving you hands-on experience in project management within the energy sector. A unique aspect of this role is the opportunity to travel to various communities via small single-engine aircraft, where you’ll inspect and oversee critical construction work. This position not only allows you to develop your project management skills but also offers the exciting chance to contribute to the development of essential power infrastructure across Alaska.
What Matters Most
To excel as an Assistant Project Manager at Alaska Village Electric Cooperative, candidates must possess a BA/BS in Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, coupled with a minimum of three years of project management experience. Proficiency in technical writing is crucial, as you will be responsible for maintaining clear documentation and ensuring compliance with the chain of custody on complex utility projects. Ideal candidates will also demonstrate adaptability in dynamic environments and strong communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with the Project Manager and Key Accounts staff. Additionally, 10 years of directly related experience or a Certified Associate in Project Management can be considered as a substitute for formal education. Familiarity with project management software and tools will enhance your ability to oversee electric utilities projects successfully, contributing to the efficient delivery of energy solutions across Alaska.
