Site Supervisor Job Description and Qualifications:

We are seeking a Site Supervisor for our HyCO3 facility in La Porte, TX. The HyCO3 Site Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the unit.

The Air Products La Porte Facility is a large multi-unit, multi-product facility producing gaseous and liquid Hydrogen, Carbon Monoxide, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon, and Steam. HYCO3 produces H2 and CO for the Gulf Coast Hydrogen and West Gulf Coast CO pipeline networks. HyCO3 also produces high pressure steam for a local customer. HyCO3 will operate in parallel with the new HyCO4 unit, which is currently under construction. Both HyCO3 and HyCO4 site supervisors report to the La Porte HyCO Superintendent and the La Porte Area Manager.

Site Supervisor Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the site’s Basic Safety Program (BSP) and Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, understand their root causes and drive corrective actions to achieve Air Products’ “Goal Zero” target for injuries.
  • Ensure environmental compliance in accordance with Air Products’ corporate policies, federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Lead a team of 10 Operations Technicians and develop site talent through coaching, training, and progression boards.
  • Lead all aspects of day-to-day operation including: troubleshooting plant process upsets, supervising daily plant activities, driving plant improvement projects, and ownership of the facility’s management of change processes.
  • Understand safe operating, design, and permit limits; actively practice alarm management. Escalate abnormal operating conditions to the appropriate support engineers (machinery, process, controls, pressure vessels, etc.)
  • Interface with Air Products’ commercial team, Customer Service Center, and Customers.
  • Interact with Air Products’ Technology team to incorporate R&D objectives into the plant start-up, stabilization, and normal operating procedures.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Experience in HyCO plant operation and maintenance or operations of equivalent complexity
  • Demonstrated commitment to asset management programs
  • Demonstrated managerial, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Track record of success on Safety, Environmental, Quality and Employee Involvement
  • Strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity.
  • Ability to interface with senior customer representatives and community leaders

Education And Licensing Requirements

  • Chemical Engineering degree is preferred, but not mandatory
  • Strong commitment to employee involvement, team building, and diversity
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Operational / Plant based role
  • Day Shift, Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Ability to be on call (Rotating on call 1 week out of every 3 weeks)
  • Driver’s License: Must hold a valid and clean driver’s license.
