Position Overview:
As a Director of Grant Strategy and Regulatory Compliance, you will play a pivotal role identifying and securing non-dilutive funding opportunities that are available from governments and private organizations with a particular focus on grants as well as in tracking and mapping regulations that impact the sustainable fuels business. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of sustainable fuels in collaboration with a highly qualified and experienced team. This position will report to the VP, Business Development at Aether.
Responsibilities
● Identify and manage progress of non-dilutive funding opportunities for Aether first-of-a-kind and commercial projects such as large government grants or other funding that can be made available by relevant private organizations and platforms.
● Lead the application process for funding opportunities ensuring quality and timely submissions.
● Track regulations in various jurisdictions that impact uptake and value of sustainable fuels such as incentives, mandates, tax credits etc. with specific focus on the aviation and maritime sectors.
● Provide timely updates to Aether leadership on how evolving regulations affects Aether’s business and projects.
● Work with business development to quantify the impact of regulations and prioritize jurisdictions that are more favorable for production and/or use of sustainable fuels.
● Develop project-specific strategies to ensure compliance with regulations and eligibility for incentives such as LCFS, RFS, and IRA.
● Represent Aether across key stakeholders.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant regulatory and grants experience.
● Strong background in sustainable fuels regulatory frameworks and policies.
● Industry experience in sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), biofuels, clean hydrogen, renewable power.
● Ability to translate and condense complex regulatory frameworks into actionable business insights.
● Deep understanding of US RFS, LCFS, IRA, EU Renewable Energy Directive, RefuelEU Aviation, FuelEU Maritime.
● Proven track record in identifying and securing large (e.g. 10M+) government grants for first-of-a-kind and commercial projects.
● Project management skills, capable of coordinating grants applications and meeting objectives within timelines.
● Deep knowledge of the US and EU government grants programs.
● Startup experience or similar, showcasing adaptability and resourcefulness.
● Comfortable setting up resources and infrastructure, displaying a proactive and self-reliant approach.
● Good communication and interpersonal skills to work with a wide range of experts.
● Leadership experience is a plus.
