AES Clean Energy (AESCE) is seeking a Strategic Development Manager for the Central region (MISO, SPP, and ERCOT). The Strategic Development team is responsible for creating AESCEs greenfield pipeline of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects. The role will work cross-functionally to establish and implement siting strategies in these regions. The successful candidate will have experience working on renewable projects in MISO, SPP and/or ERCOT.

This position can be remote, however, we require that the candidate be located within the US territory.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish recommendations for regional filing goals using information from market and growth strategy teams
  • Determine how to incorporate development, siting, and technology policies into siting strategy
  • Create and manage prospecting budgets
  • Identify siting incentives and unique siting opportunities to pursue
  • Manage select strategic partnerships and advance prospects
  • Oversee the selection of new potential injection points for solar and battery storage projects
  • Review and provide feedback on viability of prospects identified by analysts
  • Review prospect diligence and decide which prospects to move forward with
  • Oversee status of land campaigns and adjust target sites as needed based on progress
  • Oversee early-stage development handoff to ensure a smooth and complete transition to developers
  • Review competition analyses and incorporate into siting strategy
  • Work with transmission strategy and interconnection teams to advocate for favorable interconnection rules and RTO policies, and incorporate transmission buildout into strategic development
  • Work with policy team on identifying, tracking, and influencing policy related to development and siting in target markets

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Knowledge and capabilities to work in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Experience with GIS or mapping tools preferred
  • Experience with data analysis preferred
  • Diligent, detailed oriented, and dynamic. Able to self-organize priorities.

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $125.000 and $161.500/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an at-will position and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
