The Manager, Financial Reporting and Accounting, AES Clean Energy (CE) works in the fast-paced, high-growth renewable segment of the Company. The Manager ensures accounting deliverables are reported in accordance with US GAAP including working with the external audit process for the standalone audits for select CE companies as well as for AES Consolidated financial statements. Builds relationships with operations personnel to develop business knowledge in order to be a key point of contact for accounting issues and in support of the various accounting deliverables. Oversees and leads the financial reporting submissions for select CE companies. Assists in identifying and communicating impacts of new or proposed accounting interpretations, pronouncements, or other technical literature applicable to AES CE.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing information required on the multiple deliverables to AES Corporate as part of the month/quarter/year end close process (submission of trial balances, Business Lines Reporting Package, Cash Flows, MD&As, VP Disclosure Checklist, Annual Financial Reporting Package, Representation Letters and subsequent event tracker) for AES CE.
Builds, leads and trains a team of direct reports in accomplishing the objectives of the financial reporting team.
Acts as liaison with external auditors during quarter end and year-end review processes for the annual audits for select CE companies. Prepares and reviews quarterly unaudited stand-alone financial statements.
Provides timely and accurate external filings required by legal agreements and local laws and regulations on a consistent basis
Performs/reviews monthly and quarterly variance analysis on consolidated financial statements
Develops, implements and maintains procedures, metrics, and instructions for completion of financial statements for external use as well as reports submitted to corporate. Oversees monthly performance review discussions with senior management.
Develops, implements and maintains appropriate documentation and review standards and trains staff to assist in quality control reviews.
Builds strong relationships with other finance areas and operations personnel to develop deep business knowledge in order to be identified as the point of contact for accounting issues and in support of the various financial reporting and accounting deliverables.
Stays current on relevant US GAAP issues and provides timely documentation of key issues and relevance to AES CE for review and decision making by senior management.
Assists in development / maintaining adequate SOX compliance as it relates to required financial controls / disclosures.
Supports the evaluation of quarterly technical issues as warranted as well as in the coordination of disclosure information required to prepare 10-Q’s and 10-K’s and standalone audited and unaudited financial statements. Assists the general accounting team in the recording of sophisticated accounting transactions including back-leveraged debt, equity accounting, HLBV, sale of business interests, purchase accounting and others.
Preferred Skills:
7-10 years of relevant accounting experience in a public accounting firm and/or publicly traded company
Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related Field
CPA License preferred
Must have excellent analytical, written, and oral communications skills
Must have in depth knowledge of US GAAP and be able to understand and follow SEC reporting requirements
Demonstrated ability to lead a team in a complex environment and build collaborative relationships.
Must have strong research and project management skills
Must have diverse skills in order to coordinate and complete multiple tasks against deadlines
Must be able to plan for and complete complicated accounting transactions in a fast paced environment.
