Join our team! Long Island’s premier solar energy company is seeking a reliable laborer/helper and solar energy trainee for residential and commercial installations in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Position may be part-time leading to full-time, or full-time depending on the candidate’s skills and preferences.
The successful candidate should have an understanding of construction, either carpentry, electrical, roofing or other and possibly prior experience working on a construction site or in a related field. Candidate should demonstrate a willingness to learn and assist solar technicians with equipment deliveries, solar panel and electrical equipment installations, and other construction duties to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to the highest quality at various job sites. Solar industry experience is not necessary, as we provide on-the-job and other training.
This job has great potential for advancement for a person enthusiastic about learning about construction in general and about solar energy in particular to become a key player as part of our team. Most important for this position, the right candidate must report to work on time every day, have positive outlook, be willing to help with varied organizing and laborer tasks. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions.
A valid license and clean driving record is a must to be able to drive company vehicles. A plus for person with own vehicle; will provide mileage reimbursement where applicable.
Duties include but are not limited to:
– Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar energy systems, including but not limited to electrical work.
– Operate power tools and equipment to complete tasks such as solar panel installations on the roof and other general labor tasks.
– Perform tasks that require physical labor and stamina to perform manual labor tasks, such as lifting, carrying, and moving materials and equipment, usually outdoors.
– Ensure that all work is done in a safe and responsible manner, following all safety protocols and guidelines.
– Assist in the cleanup of the construction sites, equipment storage areas and vehicles, and ensure that all materials and equipment are properly inventoried and stored.
All of the above plus other associated duties, as needed. Will be subject to background check. Company policy of no tobacco/vape, and random drug testing.
