Who You’ll Work With

You will work in our Advanced Industries practice as part of the Future of Transportation Fleets asset. Future of Transportation Fleets is a McKinsey proprietary solution that offers transportation fleets and other ecosystem players a detailed intelligence and analytic tool suite on future mobility trends like electrification, autonomy, connectivity and innovations in last-mile delivery.

Your impact within our firm

You will play a key role in developing our proprietary assets and disseminating them to clients, working at the intersection of transportation, mobility and sustainability/decarbonization. You will work in a small team along with experts, data engineers, data scientists and generalist consultants. You will play a multifaceted role, contributing to various aspects of strategy and implementation. Below is a sample of the type of work you will do.
Developing distinctive assets:Using subject-matter expertise from own experience and other experts and sector leaders, develop distinctive assets that help clients navigate opportunities and risks from future mobility trends.
For example software tool to help transportation companies plan and implement decarbonization, market model to predict short-term cyclicality of trucking industry, sizing new revenue opportunities across value chain from electrification and autonomy, etc. These assets play a key role in client development and client service, the next two aspects of the role, as laid out in next two points.
Collaborating on client development:Leverage assets and expertise to help win competitive client development situations, working directly with partners, senior experts and broader solution team through interactions via in-person workshops with clients, contributing to proposal-writing, doing client demonstrations of our tools and models, etc.
Client dissemination:Play an impactful role in client dissemination, i.e. deploying relevant asset(s) during client engagement, working closely and directly with a multi-faceted team of experts, data engineers, generalist consultants, partners, project leaders, and clients.
Collaboration with other firm capabilities:Work in partnership with other firm capabilities to develop comprehensive client facing tools and assets.
Your job will include gathering and analyzing information, formulating and testing hypotheses, and developing and communicating recommendations. You may also be responsible for presenting results to client management and implementing recommendations with client team members.

  • Interest or experience in the mobility space
  • Interest or experience in cost modeling, etc.
