We are looking for a Quantitative Research Specialist to join our North American Natural Gas team.
WHY IS THIS JOB IMPORTANT
The role of the team is to deliver data-driven analysis and reports as our customers worldwide rely on our expertise to make their trading and investment decisions. The team develops proprietary fundamental and price forecasting models and produces the forward looking view of supply, demand, and prices. The team also offers in-depth view and explanation of our forecasted data in the thought leadership reports. Our customers span over the Natural Gas and LNG producers, importers, distribution companies, trading houses, and financial and governmental institutions.
Preferred candidates must demonstrate strong technical, analytical and interpersonal skills and have experience in the NA gas sector.
SOME OF THE DAILY TASKS YOU WILL PERFORM:
  • Supporting projects, using technical understanding to help remove obstacles and to find creative solutions.
  • Developing and maintaining our in-house market models, embracing an ethos of continuous technological development to help ensure our modelling solutions remain relevant.
  • You will process and maintain data accurately and promptly in databases using technical and basic market knowledge.
  • Contributing to market reports, transforming our data and model forecasts into meaningful analysis
  • You will ensure data quality, accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
  • Supporting improvements to the content and design of our analytical tools, charts, and tables
  • Building domain expertise in the US market.
  • While focused on the US gas market, you will need to learn broader global themes and trends relevant to LNG and European gas products and be prepared to support the global team covering these.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?
  • Strong programming skills (MATLAB, Python, or R)
  • Natural curiosity and a detail-oriented approach
  • Up to 2-3 years of relevant experience in the energy sector, with a focus on the North American gas market.
  • Understanding the importance of ensuring data quality and accuracy
  • Economic knowledge with a strong grounding in statistics and/or operational research
  • Positive attitude to learning new skills and technologies, particularly around the Gas market and analytics.
  • Power BI knowledge is an advantage.
Qualification:
  • BA, BS or Masters degree or equivalent experience
