Description/Job Summary
Lindahl Reed is seeking a Food and Beverage Industry Specialist to support the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) industrial efficiency and decarbonization initiatives and in successful building and managing a well-balanced, resilient and market impactful RD&D portfolio in industrial Food and Beverage (F&B) sector with a primary focus on expansion beyond traditional F&B manufacturing only.
Position Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will primarily work with IEDO staff to augment their existing workforce, providing an extension of service with required deep knowledge and expertise in the assigned area. This position may provide an opportunity to apply your years of experience and knowledge to impactful project work and decision-making program efforts. Beyond the IEDO staff, you will also engage and interact closely with national laboratory scientists on research, development, and deployment projects that produce significant energy savings and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions across the diverse segments of Food and Beverage Industry (e.g. traditional and alternative proteins, seeds and grains, fruits and vegetables, dairy and baking products, etc.). As a contractor you will provide a full support to the Energy- and Emissions-Intensive Industries Program (EEII) and technical projects and activities, interacting with experts in academia, industry, and at the national laboratories to gather necessary information and assist IEDO Technology Manager to prepare briefings, workshop, analytical updates, and other, as needed. As a contractor, you will also help guide an RD&D program focused on developing low-carbon technologies with partners in industry, academia, and national laboratories. You may also engage with other programs at the U.S. Department of Energy and across the federal government.
Requirements:
- Passion for clean energy and technology advancement in the industrial sector
- Understanding the US Food System and global F&B ecosystem
- Degree in engineering. Other degrees and certifications (business, public policy, or related discipline) are not required but will be valued
- At least 5 years of work experience. Experience in a F&B industrial setting is not required but will be valued
- Experience participating in diverse project groups, either during study or in the workplace, where consensus on complex topics is the objective
- Strong understanding of the current technical and market barriers to technology commercialization, and successful deployment
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, that reflect strong critical thinking, analysis, and synthesis capabilities
- Ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Strict attention to detail with minimal oversight required
- An entrepreneurial, roll up your sleeves spirit that realizes value in all tasks, large and small, likes to learn by doing, and desires continuous improvement and innovation.
Preferred qualifications:
- Located in the Washington DC area with a hybrid work arrangement.
- 10+ years of experience in Relevant industrial or other related experience are preferred.
- Experience in operations or RD&D experience is a plus.
