Job Description

The Solar Electrical foreman will assist our engineering, design and installation teams with various technical disciplines that involve Off-grid Solar + Storage projects. The candidate will be considered the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all electrical-related questions and will be required to understand and implement practices adhering to all NEC standards. The candidate will be required to successfully manage jobs and crews by themselves in extremely remote locations. The candidate will be required to facilitate and coordinate supplier relationship management; assist in both field service work and in-house system communications and integration; Perform administrative tasks as requested; Facilitate a sales-by-all strategy; and use current knowledge of industry standards, customers, suppliers, etc. to further the companys corporate mission and revenue objectives.

REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Licensed electrician preferred but not required depending on experience.
  • 4 – 5 years of experience carrying out electrical tasks associated with installations and maintenance in commercial or private settings
  • 2+ years of construction supervisory experience with all areas of solar panels and solar systems installation preferred.
  • Experience with PV inverters, converters, and power systems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting electrical equipment and systems.
  • Experience planning and carrying out commercial electrical construction tasks in a team environment.
  • Experience performing work on power distribution systems.
  • Experience in mechanical/structural mounting of racking, modules and electrical equipment.
  • Skilled Heavy Equipment Operator experience.
  • Organized, good time management, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to read, follow, and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications.
  • Able to work independently and in team environments.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated with strong communication skills and ability to work in a high-output environment.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism while interacting with customers respond in a timely manner and answer technical questions in a simplified manner.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and adjust to changing business needs including possible emergency call-out, extended hours, out-of-town/overnight work, and work from home.
  • Create BOMs for each job, receive and compare material quotes, and discuss with engineering and management team
  • Run the RFXs; Request for Information (RFI) or Request for Proposal (RFP) process with vendors.
  • Familiarity working at heights.
  • Lead jobs in the field and assist with supervision of daily operations
  • Provide technical support and on-site troubleshooting and repair for customers.
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with engineers, project managers and other project participants to assure work is performed to specs, provide assistance and technical support.
  • Manage and coordinate daily corrective actions.
  • Coordinate equipment needs, ensure operators are qualified, ensure that all equipment is maintained, and ensure repairs are done in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company safety handbook guidelines and OSHA safety requirements
  • Work with and be the point of contact with permitting officials to apply for and receive any necessary permits to complete projects.
  • Prepare code calculations for projects.
  • Control inventory on truck, job site, and in/out of stock for active jobs.
  • Ability to supervise others’ work and coach for performance.
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Comply with all ISC company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety policies, ethics policies, security policies, general office policies, etc.
  • Knowledge of office administrative procedures, and knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned

MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Respond to phone calls, texts, and emails in a timely manner.
  • Show professionalism in all aspects of the job.
  • Track procurement cost savings.
  • Create spreadsheets, graphs, charts, proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, internet and email.
  • Knowledge of CAD helpful but not necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven working experience in a renewable energy field
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Advanced MS Office skills.
  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards, especially the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Ability to work with multiple discipline projects.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical wiring, routing and termination.
  • Strong mechanical inclination and familiarity with various manufacturing techniques and processes
  • Willing to travel for extended periods up to 2 weeks.
  • Able to take and Pass OSHA-30Hr course and CPR/First Aid within 3 months of start date
  • Ability to understand government contracting process is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

EDUCATION:

Licensed Electrician

Or

Degree or Certificate in an Engineering, Technical, or related field

Or

7+ years relative work experience in Project management (in field), Electrical and/or PV integration and Installation

EXPERIENCE:

4+ years of experience carrying out electrical tasks associated with installations and maintenance in commercial or private settings

2+ years of construction supervisory experience with all areas of solar panels and solar systems installation preferred.

KEY COMPETENCIES

Engineering, Project management, Electrical and Mechanical Design and construction, BOM and MTO.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift a minimum weight of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in harsh environments such as mountaintops and deserts and be on their feet for long periods.
  • Must be able to work 8+ in a day and 40+ hours in a work week on occasion.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
