VP of Finance
Do you have a background in investment banking and renewable energy valuation? Our client is looking to add a VP of Finance to their growing finance team. In this role, you will lead the maintenance and development of their corporate valuation model that support key business decisions, mergers and acquisitions, and investment strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in investment banking and renewable energy corporate finance. This role will require travel for 2-3 days once a month.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Liaise with the management team and board in updating financial models to reflect changes in project development, financing, and macro assumptions.
- Provide multi-year and annual financial projections, liaise with the person responsible for providing inputs for project budgets and annual budgets.
- Interface with corporate lenders and manage existing corporate lending facilities, pro-actively monitoring covenants. Work with management to refinance or structure additional facilities as needed.
- Collaborate with Development, Finance (project finance, tax equity, M&A), Origination, and management team to gather inputs and ensure the accuracy of Heelstone’s corporate financial model.
- Perform scenario analysis and stress testing to assess the impact of various business decisions and external factors on the company’s financial health.
- Work with management to execute corporate capital structure strategy around optimizing the cost of capital.
- Ensure development projects are modeled accurately and sync with the corporate model.
- Assist in project financings as needed.
- Assist in ad hoc financial analysis of dev pipeline, acquisitions, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated record of execution at a utility-scale developer, bank, or similar position.
- 4-year degree required; MBA preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in finance, of which ideally at least 4 in renewable energy.
- Understanding of financing tools, including tax credit monetization (tax equity, tax credit transfer), debt (construction, term, revolving facilities), and cash equity.
- Experience in the renewable energy industry, including understanding of project development, financing, and regulatory frameworks.
- Understanding of “solar economics” and financial modeling.
