Summary

We are recruiting a seasoned Controller. In this role, you will oversee financial operations and ensure the integrity of financial reporting. As the Controller, you will play a pivotal role in the organization’s financial operations, with a specific focus on managing all project and company financials.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong background in accounting and finance in the real estate industry. The Controller will be responsible for the organization’s daily accounting operations, and the accurate and timely reporting of financial information for the company, its investors, and joint venture partners.

Additional responsibilities include insurance management, financial controls, general ledger management, internal and 3rd party audits, and tax reporting. Other keys to success with this position include having a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to change the reporting and tasks as the needs of the business change.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting activities, including managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Ensure the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls and SOPs to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and manage the annual budgeting process, including financial forecasting and variance analysis. Provide insights and recommendations to optimize financial performance and resource allocation.
  • Manage tax planning and compliance activities, working closely with external tax advisors to minimize tax liabilities and ensure adherence to tax laws and regulations.
  • Support the company’s global expansion efforts by providing financial expertise and adapting financial processes to meet local regulatory requirements and operational needs.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis, including profitability analysis, cash flow projections, and ROI assessments, to support decision-making and strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring timely completion and resolution of audit findings. Act as the primary liaison with auditors and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to evaluate strategic initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships from a financial perspective. Provide financial insights to support decision-making and enhance shareholder value.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and industry trends affecting financial operations. Implement risk management strategies to mitigate financial risks and optimize opportunities.
  • Other duties ancillary to the foregoing or as assigned.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related quantitative field; Advanced degree and/or CPA designation is a plus.
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in a senior accounting or financial management role, ideally within the technology, data center infrastructure, or real estate industry. Experience in early-phase companies and experience in a management position is highly desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, and internal controls. Hands-on experience with ERP systems and financial software.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of GAAP standards, and best practices for financial reporting.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively present financial information to senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset.
  • Solution-focused with an ability to collaborate and articulate ideas.
  • Experience with greenfield development, preferably data centers, or another related industry with project costing.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and time.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and NetSuite systems preferred.
