Job title: Head of Construction

Location: Remote North East US

We are looking for a Head of Construction, focusing on Solar PV projects in the north east of the US.

Our client is an international C&I photovoltaic company. They develop and deliver clean energy solutions based on photovoltaic systems along the entire value chain – from project development and financing, through construction, operation and maintenance, to energy management.

Responsibilities:

  • You will lead the oversight of different projects across multiple sites simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets, producing positive, clear, concise and transparent reports for the head of asset realisation and to the finance department
  • Take responsibility for authorized projects and manage these projects at all stages, from planning permission through RTB status and construction to connection to the national grid and commissioning
  • Additionally, manage rapports with public authorities, TSO/DSO national grid operators and consultants in all phases of the project
  • Responsible for ensuring that the project complies with licensing requirements, national grid connection procedures, applicable laws and standards, company technical requirements and international technical standards
  • Furthermore, prepare a detailed project budget and construction schedule for all projects, which must be closely monitored throughout the project duration
  • You lead the definition of the technical requirements and scope of work of EPC construction contracts, associated facilities and project-specific agreements
  • You select possible EPC contractors and lead the RFQs (Request For Quotations) in coordination with the company’s procurement and engineering departments, then negotiate the EPC construction contracts with the selected EPC contractors
  • You make the selection of project and construction managers and ensure adequate availability and allocation of resources
  • Lastly, responsible for ensuring compliance with HSEQ requirements and standard

Your Skills:

  • BSc in Energy/construction/Business/Engineering
  • 10 years of professional experience in a similar position in the solar industry
  • Expertise in the approval process for photovoltaic plants and the procedure for obtaining construction permits
  • In addition, possess an analytical approach, as well as abstraction and synthesis skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Lastly, leadership and management skills and can create a collaborative work environment
