Responsibilities:
- Design transmission and distribution lines for utility-scale solar projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as an SME for transmission line engineering, providing technical expertise in project engineering initiatives such as transmission design reviews and specifications using tools like PLS-CADD.
- Engage and manage consultants as necessary to support the interconnection process and engineering review of utility schedules and cost estimates.
- Manage client relationships and project portfolios
- Prioritize weekly tasks and client expectations
- Learn and assist with the Design of commercial and utility scale solar PV systems (1MW to 500MW+)
- Layout solar and BESS farms to maximize production
- Perform electrical calculations to size equipment, cables, conduits, etc.
- Model solar and BESS systems in ETAP, CYMCAP and WinIGS
- Additional duties as requested
Requirements:
- Electrical Engineering Degree from ABET Accredited Program
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in transmission and distribution line design
- Proficiency in engineering software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including power systems analysis and grid integration.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes, such as NEC, IEEE, and NESC.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working with AutoCAD with an understanding of layer control, dimensions and scaling, sheet sets, blocks, xrefs, line weights, plot files, and file transmission.
- Detail oriented and thorough, with excellent planning, process, and project management skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate verbally and through email to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong work ethic with self-motivated mentality
Preferred:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Renewables experience
