Position: Director of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)
Overview:
My client is seeking a Director of Mergers & Acquisitions to lead and support initiatives in utility-scale solar and storage projects. This individual will play a critical role in driving strategic acquisitions, divestitures, and partnerships, contributing to the growth and success of the company. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in M&A, strong financial acumen, and a deep understanding of the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead M&A Activities: Oversee the acquisition and divestiture of utility-scale solar and storage projects, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and strategies.

Strategic Development: Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and pursue new portfolio additions, and devise differentiated asset monetization strategies.

Financial Analysis: Build, review, and refine complex financial models to assess potential transactions, understand key value drivers, and conduct thorough valuation analyses.

Market Intelligence: Source, analyze, and interpret market data, competitive landscapes, and transaction trends to inform decision-making and strategic planning.

Project Evaluation: Assess potential project acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic partnerships, providing recommendations to the senior leadership team.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external subject matter experts across legal, finance, engineering, and development to execute transactions.

Process Management: Oversee the M&A process, including the preparation of process letters, letters of intent, shared models, deal documentation, data room management, and diligence logs.

Team Leadership: Contribute to the development of the M&A and Origination team strategy, and mentor junior team members in their professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in M&A within the renewable energy sector, particularly in utility-scale solar and storage.
- Proven track record of leading successful acquisitions and divestitures.
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Ability to synthesize complex information and present it to senior leadership.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
