Summary

The Substation Physical Engineer I will assist the Project Manager and/or Lead Project Physical Engineer in project planning and design, with a focus on meeting essential deadlines and fostering effective collaboration among project team members and various design disciplines. This individual will be a valuable member of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering engineering packages to a diverse portfolio of private clients & contractors across the country. These packages will encompass planning, design, and engineering services, focused on the substations that interconnect solar generation sites and battery storage systems with the serving utility.

The position is located in Eden Prairie, MN or hybrid.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of designs, calculations, and drawings of electrical equipment and physical designs for electrical substation equipment.
  • Assist in project specification research, determine applicable electrical codes, and ensure specific project requirements are addressed in design
  • Apply discipline and relevant standards to prepare calculations and drawings in accordance with project specifications
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to address substation physical related issues or concerns
  • Create detailed markups and coordinate with CAD drafters/designers to produce high quality, deliverables to our customer. This may include providing drafting support as needed.
  • Limited travel may be required

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in an electrical engineering program from an ABET accredited four-year college or university program.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate motivation, organizational, and leadership skills from previous experiences with an attitude and willingness to learn and advance.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Suite of software, Mathcad, or other computational software
  • Working knowledge with codes and standards including: NEC, NESC, IEEE
  • Clean driving record and ability to travel domestically.
