Role Description

Verico Technology is looking for an energetic process development engineer to join our Contract Manufacturing department for thin film coatings. In this role you will work on projects that cover a wide array of industries and end uses. The PDE is self-driven to identify, develop and deliver innovative solutions that meet all customer goals, including throughput, yield, quality, and cost targets.

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer you will design, modify, and manage activities for customer products from process definition and planning through production and release. You will serve as the central resource for assigned projects, coordinating aspects of design, process, scale-up, manufacturing, testing, and quality as the product(s) move to completion.

This role will support contract coating activities as well as internal products.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide a customer facing product stewardship role, coordinating activities from lab scale through full scale production on assigned projects. Supports engineering capital projects.
  • Conduct project planning meetings, both internal and customer facing.
  • Perform gap analysis of customer requirements versus existing equipment and capabilities.
  • Design and procure necessary components identified to meet customer requirements.
  • Manage customer process development, including development of operating instructions, identifying risks and applying mitigation strategies, overseeing customer trials, serving as technical resource for production staff during operations.
  • Troubleshoot and identify failures in equipment. Implement revisions in equipment operation or design to prevent recurrence.
  • Interact with other departments/personnel within the organization as well as outside vendors. Work cross functionally to enhance and improve processes. Actively maintain and promote the highest health and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Base level of practical skill required. Experience and/or ability to review process flow diagram (PFD), process and instruments diagrams (P&IDs), and safety engineering.
  • Experience with large scale coating techniques, especially slot die coating, or roll-to-roll manufacturing considered a plus.
  • Experience in direct customer facing roles a plus.
  • Must be comfortable carrying out hands-on operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Works well with others – strong team player.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
