About Our Client

An International IPP that focuses on utility scale solar, storage and wind projects. Within the US, their core focus is within CAISO, ERCOT, WECC & SPP. They are looking to bring on a Development Manager (Wind, Solar, Storage) to spearhead projects and assist in building out their team.

Job Description

The Development Manager (Renewables) will be responsible for

  • Providing support for a growing organization in a fast-paced environment
  • Focus on identifying and securing new solar, storage and wind project development sites, negotiating land agreements, managing interconnection requests, and evaluating project viability
  • This role will also identify and evaluate project acquisitions and strategic partnering opportunities
  • Lead market analysis and site selection for greenfield development
  • Acquire land leases for greenfield opportunities and maintain relationships with landowners for existing projects
  • Manage environmental assessment campaigns and associated external consultants
  • Manage discretionary permitting activities at all levels of government
  • Direct resource management campaigns and energy production estimates
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and consultants to appropriately manage the electrical interconnection process
  • Determine the financial viability of projects together with the corporate finance department
  • Represent the company at regional industry association meetings
  • Oversee projects for their entire life-cycle (inception through to COD)

The Successful Applicant

The successful Development Manager (Renewables) will have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (5 years) in renewable energy project development, specifically in solar, wind, or battery storage projects.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple different teams and effectively communicate with them all
  • Understanding of financial modeling, risk assessment, and feasibility analysis in the context of renewable energy projects.
  • Located in San Diego
