Job Description
Assist with the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of power plant and all associated equipment in accordance with procedures, guidelines, and operating directives in effect. Perform multi-skilled operations and maintenance duties and responsibilities. Demonstrate the ability to perform routine operational duties, perform basic mechanical, electrical, and/or instrumentation tasks. Concurrently, perform and adhere to all training requirements and schedules. Trains and guides less experienced operations/maintenance personnel on the maintenance process for the wind turbines. Training program requirements are expected to be completed within the designated time frame.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as needed)
- Adheres to, supports, and complies with all company safety and environmental policies and practices. Ensures all employees, contractors and visitors conduct themselves safely and within company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Complete required annual safety training.
- Participate in turbine specific training both classroom and hands on training.
- Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor or O&M Wind Technician, Sr., assist in activities at the site, including startups, shutdowns.
- Assists in the operation of the wind turbine systems.
- Under supervision, assist with major component replacement on turbine.
- Takes immediate corrective action as directed in response to emergency situations to minimize safety hazards and to reduce damage or downtime to the site and its equipment.
- Monitors and performs maintenance work as directed. Typical maintenance work includes, but is not limited to; disassembly, repair, and assembly of small and medium size equipment; lubricating equipment; assisting with and/or performing basic instrumentation and electrical troubleshooting and maintenance; changing oil in equipment and troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Ability to perform routine preventive maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems.
- Reads meters and gauges or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operating conditions.
- Understand the chemical and oil characteristics in accordance with procedures at specified intervals.
- Computes and reviews various logs and reports production, fault, temperatures levels and other information.
- Maintains the shop area, shop equipment, tools, grounds and company vehicle in a clean and safe condition at all times.
- Compiles records and reports and maintains a daily log.
- Ability to lead a crew.
- Upon certification operates various pieces of heavy equipment, such as forklifts, machine tools and electrical test equipment in the performance of operation and maintenance work.
- Trains to improve personal skills related to the job and/or required advancement.
- Regularly complete paperwork, including timecards, work orders and any other required documentation including hard copies and electronic.
- Assist co-workers with responsibilities when needed, including backup support.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability and willing to work holidays, weekends and overtime as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred but not required.
- Desired qualifications: 1+ years wind turbine maintenance experience.
- Familiar with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment, systems construction, capacities limitations and operating procedures.
- Exposure to the turbine design and equipment locations, turbine configurations, and normal range of parameters, temperatures, levels, etc., for common production levels.
- Safe use of tools, plant safety rules, probable causes of equipment and systems malfunctions.
- Basic knowledge of heavy equipment operation.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills in word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate orally with other employees including the proper use of a radio.
- Ability to follow instructions and follow directions from team members.
- Ability to write routine correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret work from simple and/or complex instructions.
- Ability to effectively communicate with others.
- Ability to write routine correspondence.
REASONING ABILITY & DECISION-MAKING SKILLS:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be organized, with an ability to stay focused on assigned tasks and possess an attention to detail.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Regularly work in unprotected heights (six feet and below) and work from towers and work platforms up to 300 feet, with required safety equipment.
- Lifting/lowering 25 to 40 lbs., lifting carrying up to 50 and up to 100 lbs. with assistance; pushing and pulling 45 to 60 lbs.; frequent reaching, squatting, crouching, standing, balance, manual dexterity, stooping, kneeling, walking and sitting.
- Ability to climb up to 300 feet, unassisted, with required safety equipment, multiple times per day.
- Ability to complete climb test and tower rescue training.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The posted compensation is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future, depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
