Virtual Power Plant – Project Engineer

Position Summary
The Project Engineer is the technical and troubleshooting expert for the sonnen product. While working primarily in the field, our Project Engineers must have a deep understanding of the sonnen product, it’s application in the field, and how to resolve problems. In addition, the Project Engineer will perform project management and support functions on VPP sites under construction. Under the direction of their direct supervisor, the Project Engineer will be responsible for enacting activities and supporting sonnen related aspects of VPP project construction. This is a heavy travel position, with up to 75% travel to sites required. On site, the Project Engineer will assist with technical training, system design, system installations, problem troubleshooting and resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to visit partners throughout the United States
- Support partners with technical trainings, installation and design support, and system troubleshooting
- Resolve technical cases as assigned by the engineer’s direct supervisor, using all available tools to solve problems and maintain high customer satisfaction
- Answer incoming phone calls and email from our partners, support the inside operational staff, guiding them to resolve issues, and providing general support
- Construction related project management duties on assigned sites
- Develop and maintain key documentation as it relates to projects and ongoing activities
- Maintain relationships with the R&D team to ensure growing product expertise
- Utilize Salesforce and other designated tools to document relevant call activity to ensure proper data capture, issue tracking, and customer-specific activities
- Other duties as necessary to ensure high quality, proactive, customer focused service
Qualifications
- 3+ years of technical product experience within solar, electronics, or technology industries
- Prior experience in residential / commercial construction industries
- Strong oral and written skills and interpersonal communication skills
- Must have direct, hands-on experience working with power electronics and or electrical installations
- Proven track record in team management and time bound, high quality production projects
- “Problem Solver” mentality. Someone who loves to understand and resolve difficult problems
- Highly organized with the ability to clearly organize thoughts, schedules, reports, and databases
- Ability to understand complicated technical information and communicate such information to non-experts
- Enthusiasm, creativity, and a desire to learn
- Intelligent, accountable, and self-assured mentality with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or technical related field
- Strong interests in technology, renewable energy, and or energy storage
