Canadian Solar Inc. is seeking a Senior Director of Product Management to manage the North & Central America Modules, Storage and Inverters product portfolio for the Utility, C&I, and Residential market segments. This critical role will drive our Product Roadmap, using deep knowledge of the PV/solar and storage product experience to lead a team of Product Managers who are tasked with keeping a pulse on the market feedback, customer experience, while gathering and prioritizing product enhancements, defining the product vision, and working closely with sales, engineering, and business development teams for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Product Roadmap for Canadian Solar’s North and Central America Regions, including the entire Utility, C&I, and Residential portfolio for Modules, Storage and Inverters. Gather intelligence and develop a strategy for positioning the current product portfolio and influence our future global product portfolio development, according to the North and Central America market needs, while understanding product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities and strategy execution.
- Develop 5-year business plans and financial models to support investments in new product developments.
- Provide competitive analysis of the target markets and develop product strategy that to position the new products.
- Identify new technology trends and recommend partnerships or acquisitions.
- Maintain budget and schedule and report periodically to senior management.
- Develop market requirements for new products. Work closely with global business development teams to deliver products that align with the defined vision, meets market needs, and quality standards.
- Transform market requirements into product roadmap proposals presented to internal stakeholders for review and approval.
- Manage activities such as job design, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training, development and talent management for the North and Central America product management department.
- Drive all related go to market and launch activities, and develop stage gate process for design, testing, production, sales and marketing.
- Determine product pricing utilizing external and internal market research data, reviewing production and sales costs and anticipating volume.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to prepare training content for the sales teams including product details and specifications, product advantages, and features compared to competitors.
- Work with the global marketing team to launch and communicate new products and their features and measure the introduction and sales success of the existing and new products.
- Ability to travel up to 40% of the time, including international travel.
Requirements
Education/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent is required; a graduate degree in engineering or business is strongly preferred.
Professional Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in product management and/or product development in the PV, Energy Storage or Inverters industry.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Energy Storage or related product at Senior Manager or Director level.
- Fluent in English. Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin is a plus.
- Strong understanding of Power Electronics, Energy Storage, and Battery technologies.
- Experience interacting with sales and business development teams and B2B sales channels. Working experience in direct sales to commercial and industry business is a plus.
- Excellent technical skills and ability to quickly learn detailed information about the existing product portfolio and to communicate and answer technical and product related questions and topics.
- Understanding and application of financial product calculation – product cost and product sales price definition, analysis and recommendation. Convincingly and effectively communicate with customers, independent engineers, laboratories, industry working groups, and regulatory authorities.
- Excellent social and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work with others effectively, locally, and also over multiple time zones and different cultures.
- Excellent organizational, strategic planning and implementation skills.
- Articulate with strong writing and presentation skills in person and remotely via webinar tools.
- In addition, this role will require strong analytical and financial capabilities, being process oriented and attentive to detail.
Compensation And Benefits
Canadian Solar offers a competitive salary plus fully comprehensive benefits and performance bonus package based on an annual objective achievement. Our generous benefits package includes a 401(k) Retirement Plan, medical/dental/life/disability program, PTO and sick days.
The pay range for this position is $200.000,00 to $220.000,00 This range represents annual base salary only, without regard to location, and does not include quarterly bonuses or incentives or benefits that may apply. The pay range for this role is subject to change.
