Purpose:

BayWa r.e. Americas is seeking an Area Supervisor to join our Operations team.

We are excited to announce that we are looking to hire an Area Supervisor for Operations in the Pilgrim, KY. This position will require managing in accordance with the various O&M agreements within this region. Manage the various components of the PV power plant management program as they relate to day-to-day operations and maintenance at PV plant sites. This overall objective will be achieved by meeting the following plant objectives:

Health and safety performance, environmental stewardship, employee training and development, quality control, work management system, performance management, operation and maintenance of generation assets, evaluation of reliability improvements and technology, process development and oversight, budget development including oversight and adherence.

This position reports to the Regional Manager or another senior management personnel that may designate.

Responsibilities we will trust you with:

  • Leading the maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of low, medium, and high voltage equipment such as inverters, combiner boxes, switchgear, transformers, voltage regulators, electrical protective devices, main and auxiliary generators, metering systems and battery support systems.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the applicable National Electric and Electrical safety code(s) (NEC, NFPA70E, NESC, OSHA)
  • Completion of all scheduled electric equipment maintenance on time to maximize generation.
  • Coordinate on-site project planning, installations, commissioning, quality inspections, and performance testing.
  • Write and enforce work and equipment testing instructions and procedures, including normal and maintenance operating procedures.
  • Ensure work orders are complete per requirements.
  • Ensure all documentation and required reports are reviewed, complete, submitted and filed.
  • Gains technical information from electrical schematics, vendors information, and codes.
  • Perform current and voltage calculations, as necessary.
  • Calibrate plant related instrumentation and use test equipment associated with the solar plant.
  • Performs calibrations as necessary and uses test equipment associated with the solar plant.
  • Recommend improvements to facilitate company growth.
  • Install, maintain, modify, and repair electrical distribution systems.
  • Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturers installation manuals to complete assigned projects.
  • Know how to installs and directs the work of the electrical portions of solar installations’ wiring, conduit work, sizing of wires and disconnects, interconnecting and other related.
  • Develop weekly project schedules and goals.
  • Motivates team members to increase their productivity and meet work goals/deadlines.
  • Coordinate with management personnel the order of supplies and ensures adequate inventory for projects and project manpower.
  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with Company Policies, Project Agreements and applicable laws.
  • Coordinates the overall logistics and activities for the project in respect to field repairs, maintenance and other work required.
  • Participates in daily preparation as it relates to manpower, special project and maintenance of the site and all related equipment.
  • Supervises the work of the Project Subcontractors and supports them in the supervision of Solar Technicians to stimulate maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Establishes working schedules for site maintenance, repairs and any or other contractual obligations.
  • Ensures that all daily work reports for the project sites are submitted in a timely manner as well as correct.
  • Insures efficient and economical utilization of materials, responsible for improvement of methods and elimination of wasteful practices within the operations department.
  • Takes proper and judicious disciplinary measures when required.
  • Assists the Regional Manager with annual budgets preparation.
  • Insures the appropriate use and proper care of company vehicles tools and equipment.
  • Has complete P&L responsibilities pertaining to Project & Company budgets.

Your areas of knowledge and expertise:

  • Previous Solar experience essential for this role.
  • Experience with and on power generation systems
  • Experience with medium-voltage electrical systems
  • Experience with DC & UPS systems
  • Experience and working knowledge of NFPA 70E
  • Familiarity with sections of the National Electric Code 2020 specifically those to PV (section 690/691)
  • Full clean State Driving License.

Physical and Other Demands:

  • Travel to assigned sites(s) to conduct personnel meetings and provide oversight/audit of work performed onsite.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the company.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to interact effectively with upper management, peer and subordinate personnel.
  • Ability to plan and supervise the work of others, thereby coordinating project work efficiency.
  • Intermediate math skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial P&L statements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated use of initiative, common sense approach.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience with medium-voltage electrical systems
  • NABCEP Certification preferred
  • FAA’s Part 107 Small UAS Rule (Drone license)
  • First Aid (CPR)
  • Familiar with or knowledge of NERC compliance for utility-scale systems (for sites >75MW)
  • ASNT certified for planning and conducting thermal imaging (American Society for Non-destructive Testing) or equivalent.
  • Familiar with Internal equipment calibration and tracking programs.

The starting salary range for this role is $80K and above.
