What youll do
The Vice President of Human Resources will establish and execute the people and organizational strategy for our growing company. The successful candidate will be a hands on, business-oriented and highly accomplished Human Resources leader with a passion for entrepreneurial growth environments and a proven track record of developing and delivering best-in class HR strategies. The Vice President will serve as an agent for change management, both in strengthening the company and its culture and in undertaking company-wide programs to ensure that the talent management strategies and organizational programs will enable continued high growth for the company. This role will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will office out of our corporate headquarters in downtown Houston, TX.
Youll make an impact by:
- Provides overall leadership, guidance, and direction to the HR and People operations, including talent acquisition, retention, benefits, payroll, compensation, employee relations, HR policies, learning & development, and branding & communications.
- Works closely with executive leadership to lead strategic thinking on business and people related opportunities to advance the operational and financial performance of the company; anticipate long-term needs of the organization and lead the human resource aspects to achieve company goals.
- Advances people-centered activities such as hiring, compensation, benefit plans, training, professional development, and performance management to ensure these efforts support the organizations growth plans.
- Ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organizations human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Guide the talent acquisition strategy to build a strong pipeline for future hiring needs.
- Oversee learning and development to ensure individual employee development and training programs across organization.
- Focus on all elements of organizational performance across the employee lifecycle and employee journey to shape culture.
- Researches, develops, and implement plans to ensure the company’s performance management and total rewards philosophy serves to attract, retain, motivate, and reward a high-performing workforce.
- Conducts investigations that ensure impartial and objective evaluation and resolution of issues.
- Stay abreast of market dynamics and track industry trends to maintain knowledge of new initiatives, advising the leadership of opportunities to improve quality, create competitive advantages or reduce costs.
- Assesses the functions and processes within the HR department and identifies ways to improve and create efficiencies.
- Collaborates with executive leadership to define the organizations long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support this mission through talent management.
- Identifies key performance indicators for the organizations human resource and talent management functions; assesses the organizations success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.
- Create an agile HR infrastructure that keeps pace with the changes within the business.
- Creates and maintains HR department budgets in accordance with company financial objectives.
- Participates in professional development and networking conferences and events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Have experience in growing, entrepreneurial organizations or rapidly changing environments.
- Have 10 years of senior management experience in Human Resources.
- HR certifications (SHRM-SCP, SPHR, CCP).
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, management, business administration or related field.
- 15-20 years of progressive HR experience
- HR experience in Renewables, Information Technology, Energy, or related field
- Multi-state compliance experience, including California
- Executive compensation experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, all software.
- Physical requirements and working conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 20 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
