The Energy Outreach Coordinator (Contingent Professional) position supports the County’s Climate Action Plan implementation efforts in the areas of energy conservation, energy efficiency, renewables, electric vehicles, and related mitigation and resiliency actions. This position serves under the direct supervision of the Countys Energy Manager and will work closely with the Countys Energy Manager, the Energy Analyst, the Climate Action Coordinator, the Outreach Manager and the Director of the Office of Community Sustainability. Please note, this is a temporary (contingent) position with between 25-40 hours assigned per week. Depending upon the number of hours per week and hourly rate assigned, this position is expected to last approximately 10-12 months. STARTING SALARY HIRING RANGE: $16.00 – $25.00 PER HOUR
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Conduct research and develop plans to expand commercial, residential and community solar in Howard County.Conduct research and develop plans to identify and resolve barriers and challenges to EV charging infrastructure and EV adoption. Promote community solar and solar co-op campaigns.Develop outreach materials such as videos, pamphlets, fact sheets, web content, social media posts, and newsletter articles on energy saving opportunities, renewable energy, electric vehicles, building decarbonization, and other energy topics.Coordinate and manage the Countys pilot low-and-moderate income climate infrastructure investment program. Coordinate or assist with coordination on a variety of energy and transportation climate mitigation and resiliency action implementation projects as needed. Develop employee training materials on energy efficiency, renewables, electric vehicles and related topics.Assist the Energy Manager and other County staff in obtaining and managing grant funds for climate action projects as needed. Participate in sustainability outreach and education events, as needed.Prioritize equity, diversity, inclusion and environmental justice in County programs, projects, activities, and policies.Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and environmental justice.
