The Role

As the Quant Modeler at Pexapark USA, you will be responsible for the development, enhancement, deployment, and calibration of the core technology underpinning our award-winning software products.

Pexapark vision is to make renewable power markets more efficient. We do so by providing software to manage renewable investment globally and providing reference prices and market intelligence for renewables. More than 15000 MW of renewable capacity runs on our software already while our data, prices and insights are used by more than 200 leading renewable investors across 20 markets. Pexapark is pioneering a new software category, has revolutionized the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) markets and is the upcoming price reference-setting body in the European market.

Serving as a subject matter expert and lead quant modeler in the U.S., you will spearhead the development, enhancement, deployment, and calibration of quantitative models that empower leading renewable energy investors to price PPAs and manage renewable price risks.

As part of the Quantitative Methodology team, you will tackle a diverse array of modeling and optimization challenges aimed at assisting Pexaparks clients in addressing a wide spectrum of investment topics, ranging from asset and complex hedging valuation to optimal portfolio allocation.

How will you help:

  • Regular calibration of U.S. PPA prices given price polling and evidence
  • Extending and adjusting current PPA price methodology to the U.S. markets and products
  • Support sales and account management teams
  • Ensure the accuracy of underlying price and production data used in PPA price calculations
  • Support marketing with US-specific queries

What youll bring:

  • Strong understanding of the U.S. power market, particularly ERCOT
  • 5+ years of working experience in data science and quantitative models including statistical analysis and stochastic modeling (especially Monte Carlo simulations) preferably related to the power market
  • Familiarity with (sub-) hourly price forward models and optimization techniques on time-series energy data sets is a plus
  • Experience in numerical programming languages (preferably Python or R)
  • Familiarity with SQL
  • A good sense of humor
