Join Our Team as an Energy Market Analyst

Are you ready to tackle complex challenges in the energy markets? Join TEAs Corporate Analytics team, where diverse backgrounds and unique skillsets converge to solve technical problems that shape the future of the industry. We are seeking a motivated, self-driven Energy Market Analyst to help manage FTR portfolios for our members and clients, provide strategic recommendations, and drive innovation in energy market analysis.

What Youll Do:

  • Manage financial transmission rights (FTR) portfolios, offering expertise and strategic recommendations for FTR allocation and auction processes.
  • Use advanced tools to simulate network congestion, analyze trends, and provide actionable client insights.
  • Forecast energy prices across various time horizons using both fundamental and data science models.
  • Build and maintain software tools and data pipelines to enhance energy market analysis.
  • Evaluate the impact of market design changes and new infrastructure on energy prices.
  • Assist in evaluating RFPs for renewables, storage, and transmission projects.
  • Monitor RTO market changes and communicate insights effectively to clients and internal teams.

What Youll Bring:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Quantitative Finance, Computer Science, Data Science, Operations Research, Economics, Math, or a related quantitative field. A Masters degree or higher is preferred if you have no prior full-time work experience.
  • Experience:
    • Junior-Level: Minimum 6 months of relevant experience in the electric utility industry. Knowledge of congestion rights (ARRs, FTRs, CRRs, TCRs, TCCs) is preferred.
    • Senior-Level: Minimum 3 years of experience with a focus on congestion rights and/or power system software development. Proficiency in R or Python is highly valued.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in programming languages like R or Python.
    • Experience with power system software tools (PSS/E, PowerWorld, PROMOD, etc.) is a plus.
    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and deliver detail-oriented results.

Compensation: This position can be based in either our Jacksonville, FL office or Bellevue, WA office. Compensation is based on role, level, and location:

  • Bellevue, WA:
    • Entry Level: $75,396 – $102,006
    • Mid-Level: $86,705 – $134,903
    • Senior Level: $113,338 – $176,341

Each role includes an annual target short-term incentive rate of 15% of base salary based on corporate, team, and individual performance.
