YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:

The Preconstruction Engineer II is a mid-level engineering position responsible for providing technical engineering information and support to the senior engineers to ensure that our preconstruction pursuits comply with the project requirements and all engineering standards, applicable code, and client-provided RFP

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Proficient knowledge of electrical or Civil engineering related to solar PV and BESS.

  • Ability to lead, train, and provide guidance to Engineer I and junior staff.

  • Ability to lead multiple small to medium-sized pursuit projects in parallel.

  • Ability to use AutoCAD to produce deliverable sets with the ability to direct CAD tasks to others

  • Prepare electrical SLD to include feeder schedule and OCP sizing

  • Proficient in Solar Module string sizing manually and utilizing software like SAM.

  • Align produced work with project requirements and equipment specs

  • Proficient knowledge of typical industry equipment (inverters, modules, BESS)

  • Follow the specified sequence of operations for all designed systems

  • Self QA/QC is a must, before passing to others to ensure quality of work. Ability to QA/QC work of other team members

  • Investigate any possible “Value Engineering” items

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Lead or other senior engineering staff

  • Represent the project during design meetings to stay up to date on project status and deliverables

  • Work closely with other preconstruction engineers to maintain team efficiency

  • Coordinate with the estimating and business development team as needed

  • Coordinate with the civil team to ensure the design is using the latest constraints

  • Coordinate with field teams to account for constructability in the design

  • Perform process coordination between all trades.

  • Proficiently use PVSyst & PVcase software to generate modeling and reports

  • Utilize engineering spreadsheets and professional judgment to create designs

  • Ability to create or modify engineering spreadsheets to increase project efficiency

  • Log hours per project for budgeting use

  • Weekly check-in updates with supervisor and/or director

  • Familiarity with NEC code including solar PV and BESS

  • Address RFIs and log design changes per project

  • The ability to assume responsibility for deliverables and their deadlines

  • Job site visits to gain an understanding of operations and constructability

  • May include on-site field assignments

WHAT YOU BRING TO US:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2-3 years proficiency as Engineer I in the renewable sector.

  • Total engineering experience with increasing levels of responsibility, typically 4-7 years

  • EIT is preferred and is encouraged to pursue the PE examination

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Growing knowledge of electrical engineering for solar PV and BESS

  • Fluency in the current version of CAD software employed by the department

  • Familiarity with NEC codes

  • Ability to generate e-mails independently and use of other communication platforms

  • Proficient in using MS Word and Excel

  • Document and archive work pursuant to REI standards

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate with others

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary

  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and effective team player

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, management, vendors, and clients.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions, such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning

  • Noise level is usually low to medium

  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.

Pay Range

$88,000.00-$115,400.00 Annual

The pay range for this role is what we expect to pay for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this job description. Candidate’s pay can vary based on location, job-related experience, skills, and education.
