AXA XL’s Middle Market Excess Casualty business unit offers Umbrella and Excess Liability coverage to North American based Insureds. Underwriting team is based in the United States.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
  • Market and solicit new business opportunities from retail broker partners.
  • Analyze submission data including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports while conducting appropriate research to determine degree of risk for each account.
  • Utilize underwriting tools including exposure, experience and industry ratings to analyze complex casualty exposure.
  • Adhere to underwriting guidelines, underwriting authorities and referral requirements as needed to Underwriting Manager and Chief Underwriting Officer.
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues in the assessment of current and prospective risks, including actuarial, claims, legal and risk engineering.
  • Pro-active service of business in conjunction with our Middle Office to ensure timely and accurate delivery of quotations, binders, policies and endorsements.
  • Cross-sell within Middle Market business unit to maximize deployment of AXA XLs capital.
  • Monitor trends within the marketplace to ensure we stay aware and ahead of emerging issues.
  • Contribute to planning through the development and execution of your own annual desk-level underwriting plan.
  • Travel throughout the territory for client, broker and internal meetings.
You will report to the Underwriting Manager for Middle Market Excess Casualty.

  • Effective relationships within National and Regional brokerages in the assigned territory.
  • Moderate to extensive progressive underwriting experience, including umbrella & excess casualty
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial insurance coverages and contracts.
  • Effective project and time-management skills.
  • Effective sales, marketing and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.

The U.S. pay range for this position is USD 95,000 186,500. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individuals skills, experience, and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues pay.
