About Climate United

Climate United will use funding from the EPA under the Inflation Reduction Act to rapidly deploy low- and zero-emission products, technologies, and services to all American communities in order to (1) reduce GHG emissions and other forms of air pollutants; (2) bring direct benefits to American communities in the form of energy security, energy savings, cleaner air, and quality jobs; and (3) transform the capital markets so they can drive an equitable clean energy transition at scale. Calvert Impact, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (Calvert Impact), is the sole member of Climate United. The successful candidate will be employed by Calvert Impact or one of its subsidiaries.

Job Description:

Climate United Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (Climate United), is seeking several full-time Investment Officers who will be instrumental in launching and managing our investment portfolios focused on distributed generation, building decarbonization, and zero emissions transportation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful change in underserved markets.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing sectoral target markets and investment strategies.

  • Identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities.

  • Conduct thorough due diligence on projects and transaction partners.

  • Lead financial modeling and risk assessment activities.

  • Lead portfolio servicing and day-to-day management of relationships.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with stakeholders and partners.

  • Contribute to the development of investment policies and guidelines.

  • Stay informed on industry trends and sectoral developments.

  • Assist in managing actively monitored assets and troubleshooting issues.

  • Enhance Climate United’s industry presence through networking and communication efforts.


Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in renewable energy, commercial/investment banking, structured/project finance or private equity.

  • Strong project management and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.

  • Enthusiasm for contributing to a mission-driven organization.

  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

  • Bachelors degree in finance, economics, or related field.

  • Familiarity with the green economy and sustainability initiatives.

  • Demonstrated commitment to environmental stewardship and social justice.

  • Passionate about the mission and work of Climate United, Calvert Impact, and committed to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

  • Willingness to travel up to 30%, primarily within the US, and ability to work from the New York City or Washington, DC area or be willing to come into the office at least quarterly for team collaboration.
