BUSINESS UNIT: TERMINALS
Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products. We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Maintain and implement company safety policies.
- Comply with all regulatory and safety compliance task and procedures.
- Issue work orders to I&E Technicians using CMMS to meet daily work load needs.
- This position requires the supervisor to be here at least hours before shift start and at least hour after shift ends to review, open/close work orders and schedule work.
- Lead I&E Technicians team in day to day maintenance activity.
- Ability to issue and explain good instruction.
- Able to read Pipe and Flow Diagrams, Safe Charts and Pipe and Instrument Drawings.
- Must have good oral communication skills.
- Must have good delegation skills.
- Must be able to prioritize work base on company policy.
- Must be able to remove work barrier to achieve a consistent work flow.
- Ability to direct, coach, support, and delegate as the individual team member may require.
- Train and proctor I&E Technicians in DOT OQ related task.
- Set up and maintain Preventative/ Predictive Maintenance work and schedules.
- Provide contractor oversight as needed.
- Maintain budgets assign to him/ her as directed Maintenance Manager.
- Cover vacation relief for mechanical department
Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements include:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience or 2 years experience and an Associate Degree in a technical field.
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Extensive knowledge of preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance.
Behavioral characteristics that support team effectiveness.
Extensive working knowledge of the following elements:
- MOV control systems and valve fundamentals
- Power distribution
- Communications systems
- Advanced knowledge of PLC troubleshooting skills (Allen Bradley Control Logix, PLC5 & SLC500)
- Repair and troubleshooting of motor starters and controls
- Electrical test equipment
- Instrumentation calibration, repair and troubleshooting on pressure, level, flow and temperature devices
- Electrical diagrams
- P&IDs
- NEC for medium/heavy industry
Computer literacy a must:
- Experience with Windows based software.
- Extensive working knowledge of SCADA system and troubleshooting.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ETC:
- Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers and must be willing to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment.
- Must pass and complete Safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan at all locations.
- Must obtain and/or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones such as background checks by the Department of Homeland Security, i.e. obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
- Must be able to pass respiratory fit testing.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Understand and comply with customer and Kinder Morgan’s rules and policies.
- Ability to identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
- This position consist of outside work and adverse weather conditions may apply.
- Willing and able to wear standard and specialty personal protective equipment (PPE hard hat, goggles, slicker/rain suit, steel toe or metatarsal boots, ear plugs, face shield, safety glasses, respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus, various type of gloves, etc.).
- Ability and willingness to work in confined spaces, elevated and waterfront areas, and other areas where fresh breathing air, hot work permits, lock-out/tag-out, fire watch and other similar safety procedures and working conditions are required. May also be exposed to electric shock, chemical fumes, rotating equipment and other similar industrial hazards.
- Physical requirements include but are not limited to walking and standing for long durations; walking up and down ladders and storage tank stairways; negotiating uneven surfaces; crawling, stooping, and carrying, pushing or pulling a minimum of 50 pounds on level and uneven ground, walkways and stairways; kneeling, bending of torso and legs, holding one or both arms overhead for long durations, hand dexterity, full movement of head and extremities (hands, arms, legs, fingers, feet, etc.), acceptable hearing, etc.
