Director of Estimating – EPC Solar

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and leadership to the Estimating Team in estimating, preparing, and submitting bids in a professional and timely manner
- Review RFP documents and generate material take-offs and labor estimates
- Arrange for Procurement of long lead time material and/or subcontractors
- Attend Pre-bid meetings when required
- Read contract documents, identify risks and areas to clarify/negotiate
- Prepare and submit final proposals and bid sheets to the customer in a professional and timely manner
- Develop policies and procedures related to the bid process
- Schedule estimating staff to ensure timely bid creation
- Work with other leadership teams when contracts are awarded to develop a complete project package, including all project documentation, bid budget, schedule, subcontracts, etc…
- Facilitate project hand-off for a smooth transition to Operations
- Prepare capital cost estimates
- Coordinate with other departments, ensuring understanding of project objectives and efficient utilization of resources
- Remain current with technology and industry evolution, assuring that capital estimates anticipate the correct market conditions
- Establish, build, and implement metrics for cost and construction estimate checks
- Develop and mentor Estimating Team members; provide feedback and guidance
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in business, finance, construction, or related industry
- 10+ years of relevant experience, 5 of those being in leadership roles
- Proven experience managing and developing teams
- Working knowledge of the construction and/or renewable energy industries
- Ability to read project plans and specifications
- Understanding of contract language and requirements
- Effective time management skills, understands how to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Experience in project estimating and Gantt chart scheduling
- Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards
- Excel at operating in a fast-paced environment, where multiple deadlines are critical
- Collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, and Outlook
