Position Description
Advanced Energy United seeks a solutions-oriented, innovative, and politically savvy SVP of Strategy. This position is a part of the management team that drives the overall strategy for the organization, with a focus on program strategy and management alongside fundraising. The SVP will oversee a team of policy strategists, both Managing Directors and Directors, and will work collaboratively with them to develop, implement and scale multi-year strategies and campaigns designed to achieve policy successes that will accelerate the transition to 100% clean energy and electrified transportation. The SVP will also lead the fundraising team, externally representing United in strategy conversations with funders, and enabling United to meet our fundraising goals.
This is a unique opportunity to join a high-functioning team and organization and to shape organizational strategy and policy strategy across issue areas. The ideal candidate will have a history of effectively leading a performance- and outcome-based program and staff. They will have developed and operationalized strategies that have taken a program or organization to the next stage of growth. Expertise in clean energy issue advocacy at the state or federal level is highly desirable. Candidates should be creative and flexible, with the ability to work collaboratively to develop strategies, working across multiple issues with diverse stakeholders. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational, managerial and mentoring skills, the ability to find common ground both with corporate membership and external stakeholders, and a successful track record generating revenue from philanthropic funders. Candidates will need to travel frequently to meet with United members, funders, coalition allies and stakeholders, public officials, and internal team members.
