Summary of Role

The Nuclear Innovation Alliance (NIA) is seeking a Senior Engineering and Commercial Project Development Analyst to join our team. This role focuses on integrating technical expertise with project management skills to help create commercial strategies and government policy that can reduce the costs and deployment timeline for new advanced nuclear power plants. Ideal candidates will have a strong engineering background combined with project development experience, capable of translating technical insights into strategic project plans.

Responsibilities

  • Cost Analysis: Evaluate technical data to identify cost drivers in nuclear power plant projects, recommending strategies for cost reduction.
  • Project Management: Review industry project timelines, procurement strategies, and construction management plans, to identify best practices for efficient resource allocation and successful project execution.
  • Technical Evaluation: Collaborate with technical experts from advanced reactor developers, national labs, and other research organizations to assess engineering solutions for new nuclear power plants, translating technical insights into project development strategies.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with financial analysts, policy makers, and industry experts to align project goals, timelines, and costs with economic and policy goals.
  • Policy Implications: Analyze the policy implications of technical developments, providing recommendations for regulatory and industry practices.
  • Cross-disciplinary Communication: Bridge the gap between engineering and finance, articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

What an Average Day Looks Like

  • Review engineering reports to identify potential cost-saving opportunities in ongoing nuclear projects. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to develop project strategies, ensuring alignment with financial and policy goals. Meet with industry partners and stakeholders to discuss policies that catalyze project development, securing stakeholder buy-in for new strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Nuclear) or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree in Project Management is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in project management, engineering, or related roles, preferably within the energy sector.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of engineering principles and project development processes, with experience in large-scale projects.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex technical data and derive actionable insights for project optimization.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
  • Clean Energy Project Development Experience: Proven track record in energy project development from inception to completion, with a focus on cost management and efficiency
