Job Description

Piper Maddox has been retained by a leading technology firm, specializing in advanced clean energy systems. Their innovative solutions offer clean, continuous power without the need for expensive post-combustion CO2 capture. The company is launching a new venture focused on developing medium to utility-scale power generation projects, particularly targeting technology and data center markets across the U.S.

The company is seeking a Head of Commercial/Development to lead the strategic growth of this new venture. This role involves scaling the business from its inception, leveraging the company’s established technology and market presence. The Head of Commercial/Development will drive key initiatives, secure commercial traction, and advance initial project development phases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide the company’s commercial strategy, overseeing growth and operational execution. Develop and implement long-term strategies that align with the company’s vision for clean energy.
  • Expand the development pipeline by identifying and pursuing opportunities for power generation projects. Focus on delivering clean, continuous power solutions to key markets such data centers.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of scalable renewable energy systems. Collaborate with technical teams to optimize project execution and ensure commercial success.
  • Manage budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation. Monitor key financial metrics to ensure sustainable growth and prepare for future capital raises.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, investors, regulatory bodies, and community leaders. Advocate for the company’s initiatives in high-level discussions.
  • Lead fundraising efforts, developing business cases to engage potential investors and secure funding for future growth.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in project development within the renewable energy sector, with a strong preference for those with a background in IPPs or large corporate renewable energy procurement.
  • Proven ability to launch, scale, and grow new ventures. Experience in guiding projects from concept to commercialization is essential.
  • Understanding of energy systems, with experience in natural gas power plants, CO2 capture, and sequestration technologies being a plus.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and capital raising. Ability to develop strategic plans that align with business goals.
  • A Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative approach to team management.
