Senior Electrical Engineer
General Purpose of Job:
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, engineering, testing, modelling, and monitoring of PV systems. This role includes supervising other engineers, generating detailed drawings, compiling reports, and mentoring new apprentices. The incumbent will also conduct research and engage in continuous learning.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelors in electrical engineering
- 5 yrs. experience in designing 100MWdc and up to and signing off for Construction.
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Must be able to share prior IFCs and walk us through the design process
- Looking for someone to own the projects. Create the basis of design, site plan and SLD. Then hand over major CAD to junior level engineers.
Essential Functions:
The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Designing and engineering commercial PV solar systems ranging from 50kW to 100MW.
- Conducting power studies, including short circuit, coordination, and arc flash hazard studies.
- Developing design and client review processes for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects.
- Creating standardized construction documents using CAD.
- Developing specifications, collecting data, and completing utility interconnection and building permit applications.
- Preparing detailed equipment specifications.
- Coordinating and leading activities among clients, utilities, permit agencies, contractors, and other engineering firms.
- Traveling to project sites as needed to gather site-specific data.
- Conducting site assessments and analysis through on-site data collection and network tools.
- Contributing to or authoring technical papers.
- Performing site-specific production analysis of PV arrays using models such as PVsyst.
- Conducting roof surveys using total stations and other professional land surveying equipment.
- Integrating energy storage systems into solar PV systems.
- Tracking and managing projects.
