About This Role
This role reports to the Sales Director and will be responsible for the sale of Socomec, Inc. products in the North Region of the US. As a fully remote member of our team, the incumbent is expected to be self-managed and highly motivated in terms of executing sales-oriented strategies and tasks, organization, and time management.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Consistently meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPI’s) and assigned sales targets in the North Region (ND, SD, NE, MN, IA, MI, WI, ¼ IL, MI, IN, KY, OH, NY, PA, WV, NJ, MD, DE, DC, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI, ME)
- Analyze the market to set sales goals and strategies; manage key target customers
- Identify and develop target segments, i.e., HVAC, Solar, Energy Storage, Panel Builders, Material Handling, etc., through internal and external business partners
- Develop annual account sales plan to achieve company sales growth goals for the market
- Increase Socomec OEM business in line with company strategy
- Coordinate and liaise with each respective BA’s Business Developer or National Sales & Marketing Manager for Energy Efficiency and Energy Storage Solutions; liaise with HQ in France as necessary
- Assist with product support, launch and marketing
- Identify key target customers, including new prospects and emerging / past customers with growth potential; develop and implement field selling strategies for growing sales to each target account
- Collaborate with Marketing and Technical Sales Support on pricing analysis, product positioning, technical presentations, and application of Socomec products
- Daily management and development of existing or potential direct accounts, indirect accounts, manufacturer’s sales reps, distributors, and new customer prospecting
- Lead, develop, support, and motivate Area Sales Managers and sales reps in order to achieve identified targets; for the sales of Socomec Inc., Boltswitch and CCS
- Manage sales promotions
- Collaborate with internal colleagues to communicate new and improved Socomec North America products to customers, manage customer expectations, and identify opportunities within the channel
- Conduct Socomec product training sessions and provide updates to distributors and OEMs
- Utilize product knowledge to solve application problems that customers may encounter
- Assist OEMs in the technical design and implementation of their products through the production stage, while promoting Socomec products
- Participate in trade events; use professional networking to advance the Socomec North America brands and value proposition
- Apply leadership skills to motivate sales professionals and work effectively with all levels of the organization
- Develop professional relationships with current and prospective customers; quickly gain credibility and trust through all interactions
- Partner with distributors and customers’ engineering staff to get Socomec products specified; identify and participate in the customer design cycle
- Customize and deliver sales presentations, promotional materials and other marketing information to customers and prospects, in collaboration with Marketing Team
- Prepare accurate and competitive quotes specific to customer needs and relation to special initiatives
- Always demonstrate a client-centric approach, proactively anticipate and act on business needs
- Establish and develop a sales pipeline and rolling sales forecast; review it regularly with the Sales Director
- Provide effective performance feedback, encouragement, and recognition to all direct reports
- Fully utilize customer relationship management (CRM) software (i.e. Salesforce) to document all customer and prospect interactions
- Use CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) to document customer interactions and submit required reports (expenses, mileage, channel analysis, sales plans, etc.) on time.
- Maintain a culture that embraces the core values of the company, fostering a positive, innovative working environment
- Adhere to all Company policies, including health and safety
Essential Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized College or University
- Minimum 5 years of sales experience in low voltage electrical products with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Experience in the industrial electrical market, including determining electrical control design needs and implementing strategies and standards
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills to improve performance within distributor channel
- Demonstrate clear leadership strengths and exercise good judgment in decisions, communications, and actions with customers and internal teams
- Must be highly focused and can work under minimal supervision, yet communicate effectively regarding key performance indicators, goals, and results
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sales-related projects, tasks, and issues tactfully and collaboratively
- Must be able to prepare own complex schedule pertaining to sales calls, meetings and related sales and marketing activities
- Proficiency in customer relationship management (CRM) software (e.g. Salesforce) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Must be able to work from a home office
- Maintain a valid driver’s license including a good driving record; able to safely operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis
- Must maintain a valid passport for international travel for possible meetings and training abroad
