ASRC Federal is expanding our US Department of Agricultural portfolio and has opportunities nationwide. Experience with government contracting, specifically in “rural development” is strongly desired. ASRC Federal is seeking a strong Renewable Engineer to help support a USDA contract focusing on loans and grants for rural development. The ideal candidate must have the technical experience in the design, development or construction of large-scale renewables energy projects including solar, wind, biomass and/or battery energy storage systems. The engineer will review technical documents related to each loan application to determine the technical feasibility of proposed renewable energy projects.

Location: Remote (ability to travel if necessary)

Clearance: Must be able to pass a government issued background check

Responsibilities

  • Performs the technical due diligence of proposed renewable energy systems that include the review of design specifications, feasibility studies, site-specific engineering analysis, and interconnection requirements for utility scale facilities.
  • Review plant design documents including single line diagrams and site layout drawings, grid impact and reliability studies, interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements, procurement and construction contracts, and the commissioning of the projects.
  • Review of the engineering and power cost study (or the independent engineering report)
  • Review of the applicable contract and agreements
  • Prepare engineering memos that recommend the loan from technical point of view
  • May interface with applicants to obtain necessary information

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience with Master’s degree; minimum of 1 year of relevant experience with a Doctorate degree.
  • Must have the technical experience in the design, development or construction of large-scale renewables energy projects including solar, wind, biomass and/or battery energy storage systems.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of and be capable of reviewing plant design documents including single line diagrams and site layout drawings, grid impact and reliability studies, interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements, procurement and construction contracts, and the commissioning of the projects.
  • Familiar with applicable industry and federal codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Capable of understanding heat & mass balance diagrams for biomass facilities and reviewing meteorological data and resource studies to confirm the yield, availability and production output of proposed wind or solar projects.
  • Effective communication skills; strong written and verbal communication.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Must be able to successfully complete a government issued background investigation

Preferred Qualification

  • Experience supporting government contracts or federal work experience
  • Experience supporting USDA and/or rural development
  • Be able to travel if necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to work with all levels of professionals.
  • Must be adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
