ROLE
This Renewables Consultancy is currently working with a major Independent Power Producer (IPP) to oversee a high volume of C&I Rooftop facilities projects in New York, New England and the Mid-Atlantic. This team is highly regarded by the IPP and is often the first stop when consulting on feasibility studies, commissioning, and the intricacies of design & project specifications. Projects and locations can vary ranging; however, this role will focus particularly on Commercial Rooftops ranging from 500kW to 3MW. Signing off on projects is not required, while the ability to do so is strongly preferred within the electrical scope.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform energy audits and feasibility studies to identify Energy Conservation Measures.
- Complete utility data analysis and evaluation of energy usage
- Design of commercial rooftop solar PV facilities including DC and AC circuit distribution, raceways, switchboard and transformer sizing, MV equipment and protection systems
- Perform basic energy savings calculations, making educated assumptions when applicable and using / interpreting data gathered from the field to estimate savings
- Able to interpret complex plans and specifications and apply available information to ensure that all project design requirements are satisfied
- Plan, perform and document the commissioning of various Mechanical and Electrical Systems to ensure the intended operation
- Conduct on-site investigation and inspection of multi-discipline projects
- Takes a lead role in resolving construction problems, procedures, and methods
- Maintain familiarity with appropriate engineering and construction codes
- Project compliance with NFPA 70 (NEC) and IEEE-C2 (NESC)
- Equipment and material specification, selection, and review
- Selection and calculations for design purposes
- Work with Jr Engineers to develop and review project drawings and documentation
- Work independently and as part of a team to design, manage and complete project designs
- Construction phase services such as submittal review and site visits to monitor project progress
- Post-project completion inspections
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, energy engineering, engineering technology or related program
- A minimum of 7 years professional engineering experience
- Must have: 4+ years or more of experience working in engineering design of Commercial and Industrial Rooftop projects
- AutoCAD experience
- Revit experience is a plus
- Professional Engineer’s license is a plus
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%
- Experience in solar/interconnection-related software is required including:
- PVSyst (or similar) energy production modeling software;
- eTap power analysis (or similar);
- PVCase (or similar) CAD design is desirable.
