Job Description

A leading European IPP is looking to expand its US presence through the creation of an Eastern Development team to focus on ERCOT, PJM and MISO. To facilitate this, they’re searching for an ambitious developer to lead strategic development activities from greenfield to NTP. With a focus on quality over quantity, this role demands a commercial mindset to drive value creation and strong leadership capabilities as you lead from the front in a small team. Candidates may work remotely, with a preference for those residing in target markets or near their US headquarters in Houston, Texas.

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development of a diverse Solar & BESS pipeline from greenfield through to NTP
  • Work closely with the VP, East to implement the greenfield strategy across ERCOT, PJM, MISO
  • Provide leadership/mentorship to junior associates. Future opportunity for management of multiple associates.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating internal and external resources for market analysis, interconnection assessments, land acquisition, environmental studies, permitting, regulatory compliance, and contract execution.
  • Conduct due diligence on renewable energy project acquisition targets in select markets.
  • Provide active support in refining and adjusting execution strategies as necessary.
  • Ensure transparent and timely project reporting to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills and a willingness to explore new software platforms supporting project development
  • Opportunities to present projects to the Investment Committee

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 4+ years experience in renewable energy project development.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote, entrepreneurial work environment.
  • Comfortable leading internal teams and external consultants across different stages of project development.
  • General understanding of market trends and developments in target regions.
  • Approachable leadership style with a strong sense of integrity and professional drive, balanced with empathy.
  • Agile thinker and effective contributor with a meticulous focus on details.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams across various time zones.
  • Goal-oriented with an organized leadership approach, fostering team empowerment and accountability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a knack for presenting option analyses and recommended solutions to management.
  • Demonstrated perseverance in achieving project milestones.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly in remote work environments.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 30%, with occasional trips to Europe.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, energy-related fields, or equivalent preferred.
