Job Description

As a part of the Avery Dennison corporate Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) team, the EHS Data Analyst is an integral part of the EHS team supporting the Company’s environmental, health, safety and sustainability strategy and initiatives by enabling a culture of data-driven decision making, system-supported problem solving, and predictive analyses. The Analyst will acquire, manage, interpret, and transform data into accurate, consistent and timely user-friendly formats for reports distributed throughout the organization. The EHS Data Analyst will support the EHS function through internal and external reporting, data management and process improvement, while assisting the EHS team with subject matter expertise in our EHS Management System ASPIRE (Enablon platform).

You will play an integral role in providing insights to our operations to help people work safer while also reducing the environmental impact of our facilities

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

The key responsibilities of this role include environmental, health, safety and sustainability data collection, review, evaluation and reporting as follows:

Data Collection

  • Supports data gathering for metrics and reporting for EHS and Sustainability
  • System liaison for the ASPIRE EHS enterprise data management system (Enablon platform), including data management, dash boards, reports, etc.
  • Send quarterly EHS data reminders to ensure timely data submission from relevant departments and sites
  • Develop and implement a standardized process for integrating data from newly acquired or constructed sites into the EHS/ESG reporting system
  • Establish and maintain protocols for monitoring and maintaining the integrity and transparency of data intake and validation processes
  • Manage, update and validate site profiles for data collection
  • Validates reported data and ensures data quality
  • Incorporate new metrics and data sources to provide a more comprehensive view of ESG performance
  • Evaluate the current waste and recycling support data process and identify areas for improvement
  • Implement technological solutions or process enhancements to streamline data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Assist in gathering and analyzing green energy credit indicators and supporting documentation
  • Prepare reports and presentations to demonstrate the company’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainability
  • Prepare training materials on ESG Data Procedures, Questions and Answers and FAQs

Data Review and Evaluation

  • Extract and compile ESG data on a quarterly and full-year basis
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of ESG data and invoices to identify anomalies, discrepancies, or potential errors
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency and completeness across all sites and prior to sharing the data with relevant stakeholders
  • Work with relevant teams to resolve issues and ensure data integrity
  • Perform a comprehensive review of environmental ESG data throughout the year to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement
  • Develop dashboards and reports to support the oversight and management of key metrics, indicators, and trends. Translate data into user friendly formats.
  • Identify areas for improvement, develop strategies and provide insights and recommendations to management for enhancing the company’s ESG performance
  • Conduct strategic analysis of future EHS and sustainability data systems’ needs to enhance existing data management and reporting requirements

Data Reporting

  • Collaborate with the Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) reporting office to coordinate data needs for internal and external reporting
  • Update and enhance the EHS sustainability scorecard
  • Assist the internal audit team in reviewing ESG data as part of their annual audit process.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the third-party verification of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations
  • Provide necessary documentation and explanations to ensure a thorough and accurate audit
  • Develop and review ESG-related responses for Workiva, a reporting platform used for regulatory filings and disclosures
  • Prepare and submit CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) reports for water, GHG emissions, and forests
  • Engage with CDP to address any questions or concerns
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure accuracy and consistency in responses ● Conduct an annual review of the company’s Ecovadis sustainability rating.
  • Review and respond to ESG environmental data requests from various stakeholders, including investors, customers, and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM Major, or equivalent work experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a data analyst, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools
  • Information technology and systems analysis experience
  • Understanding of computer applications such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Knowledge of principles and practices with database maintenance and administration
  • Experience working with EHS policies, standards, and metrics helpful but not required
  • Excellent analytical skills – the ability to identify trends, patterns, and insights from data.

SKILLS:

  • Good technical knowledge and be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain its solution
  • Leadership and interpersonal communications skills (oral and written) with the ability to motivate and influence others
  • Analytical skills to conduct data validation, trend analysis, and develop dashboards for metrics and key indicators
  • Ability to listen to key stakeholders, process feedback to adjust user interfaces to improve workflow and data output
  • Attention to detail, data accuracy, and maintaining confidentiality of information

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $53,700 – $71,600 / year.

The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool.
