Position Overview:
We are looking for a motivated and dynamic Outside Sales Engineer to join our team, focusing on the renewable energy sector, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The ideal candidate will be based in the Western U.S., particularly California, and will have a strong entrepreneurial drive, exceptional customer relationship skills, and a passion for delivering innovative solutions in the renewable energy and transformer industries.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the renewable energy sector, targeting organizations requiring advanced transformer solutions. Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue goals, demonstrating a proactive and market-savvy approach.
- Travel extensively (approximately 3 weeks per month) to engage with customers and attend relevant industry events.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through effective communication and tailored messaging. Make independent decisions, taking initiative and calculated risks as needed to drive results.
- Engage with customers to understand their needs through thoughtful conversations and active listening. Work collaboratively with clients to create customized solutions that address their specific challenges and foster long-term partnerships.
- Apply your knowledge of transformers and renewable energy to educate customers on the advantages and features of our products. Provide technical support throughout the sales process, ensuring customers have a comprehensive understanding of product capabilities.
- Conduct detailed market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive dynamics within the renewable energy and transformer markets. Share insights with the product development team to enhance offerings and meet evolving customer needs.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and market insights in the CRM system. Prepare and present regular sales reports and forecasts for management.
Requirements
- Preferred: Experience in outside sales within the commercial renewable energy sector (solar, wind, BESS) with a focus on transformers above 30 MVA.
- Extensive sales experience in high-power industries is also considered, particularly with a proven sales track record.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in sales or business development, ideally within the renewables sector.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- An Electrical Engineering degree is highly desirable, though relevant experience in technical sales within the transformer industry can substitute.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a talent for building and nurturing customer relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey clear and impactful messages.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
