What you’ll do:

Working in a dynamic, collaborative team, you will be directly responsible for leading the development and construction of multi-technology distributed generation projects for key accounts. You will manage complex project activities including coordinating with internal multi-disciplinary resources (e.g. engineering procurement, legal, project finance), external-engineering, external utilities, AHJs, planning boards/commissions, state agencies and customers in the development of custom renewable energy solutions. You will coordinate directly with C-level executives and customer project teams, including engineering, facilities and energy functions to ensure customer’s project goals and expectations are met or exceeded, while providing consistent communication at all levels. Solutions will include but not be limited to solar, storage, microgrids, EV charging, optimization, and demand response data acquisition in North America. Designs and solutions must be delivered on time, within budget while maintaining industry leading safety standards.

The successful candidate will have a wide range of responsibilities that will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead due diligence, development and construction of distributed energy projects
  • Work with sales engineering and business development to ensure both Calibrant and customer financial expectations are achieved for each project. This will require individual to have a broad knowledge of energy markets, grid services, incentives, other revenue sources and various technical solutions
  • Coordinates with various cross functional teams within Calibrant, including Account management, Sales professionals, Sales Engineering, project engineering, business development, product development, hardware and software engineering and customer service to address issues that arise during all phases of each project, from development through construction and commissioning
  • Establish and execute multi-disciplinary due diligence plans with support of internal subject matter experts and third-party consultants
  • Ensures design consistency across multiple projects and regions as directed by customer requirements.
  • Establish development budgets and ensure proper financial project set-up including work breakdown structures (WBS) and monitor and update as financial changes occur
  • Identify interdisciplinary risks in project contracts, technologies, vendors, and work with internal subject matter experts to develop mitigation strategies. Maintain a risk register and escalate issues to Calibrant senior management team as applicable
  • Actively communicate with customers’ commercial representatives and manage resolution of commercial issues
  • Influence team to take positive action and assume accountability for assigned work
  • Regularly perform lessons-learned activities on commercial aspects
  • Drive interpersonal relationships, foster effective communication, and manage conflicts
  • Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts in the commercial and risk management aspects of drafting, analysis, and negotiation of applicable contract documents
  • Source and manage third-party consultants to support permitting, environmental studies, engineering, land acquisition/title work, ALTA surveys, interconnection as needed, with strict adherence to scope, schedule, and budgets
  • Interface with any state and local agencies at it relates to regulation, permitting, interconnection, and project-specific tax considerations
  • Assist in building and managing strong relationships with customers, asset developers and other sources of project investment opportunities
  • Compose and deliver development progress reporting, including project status, budget to actual, key success factors, issue identification and problem resolution. Support in the preparation and presentation of investment committee and board of directors reporting activities
  • Professionally prepares written documentation required for customer presentations, and other documents as required
  • Support project finance team in any debt and/or tax equity raises for projects
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory/legislative trends and policy changes, as well as current and future market conditions
  • Develops and documents regional market subject matter expertise with utility grid services programs such as, but not limited to; demand response, ancillary services, etc
  • Works closely with Calibrant and customer safety teams to ensure all safety procedures, processes and documentation a consistently applied.
  • Support ongoing development process improvements at the Company

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent preferred
  • At least 5 years of professional experience working in the renewables and environment industry, with a focus on developing and implementing solutions that accelerate the energy transition
  • At least 7 years’ experience in project management, with a focus on multi-site, multi-project national accounts
  • At least 2 years working with battery control and battery / BESS management systems
  • Familiarity with renewable system design & construction
  • Demonstrated background in project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management
  • Excellent project management skills. Ability to work autonomously on deadline-driven projects, multitask and with strong analytical and problem-solving skills ensuring on-time delivery to stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, changing environment and be detail-oriented
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment and willingness to work in matrix organization
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into technical, support and operational requirements
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools, including (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access)
  • Strong business and technical analytical skills required
  • Ability to travel to client sites as needed. Travel 30% of the time
