Payroll Coordinator/Accountant (Proficient in QuickBooks)

Location: New Bedford, Massachusetts, USA

$65,000/year

Job Summary: The Payroll and Accounting Coordinator will oversee payroll processing, employee benefits administration, and support accounts payable, requiring meticulous attention to detail and QuickBooks proficiency. This role entails close collaboration with the accounts and crewing departments to ensure precise and timely financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and punctuality.
  • Administer various employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
  • Perform QuickBooks data entry for accounting and financial transactions.
  • Coordinate with the accounts team to reconcile payroll and benefits data with financial records.
  • Stay abreast of payroll and tax regulations to ensure company compliance.
  • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Assist in preparing payroll and benefits reports for management review.
  • Collaborate with HR manage payroll and benefits.
  • Participate in audits and furnish necessary documentation and explanations for payroll and benefits-related data.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance payroll and benefits efficiency.
  • Support Accounts Payable and accounting functions as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Payroll and Benefits Coordinator, preferably in the maritime or related industry.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Online with demonstrated experience in accounting data entry.
  • Experience handling multi-state payroll operations.
  • Thorough understanding of payroll and employment laws and regulations.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Prior experience in the maritime industry or offshore wind energy sector is advantageous.
