Job Description:

High Level Project Overview:

This position is for a Project Manager of the Installation phase of the Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) package for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project. This scope entails the transportation, pre-assembly and installation of 176 WTGs. The lease area is located 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and the preassembly area is located at Portsmouth Marine Terminal.

The WTG Installation Project Manager will report to the Manager – Site Construction, Offshore Wind. This Project Manager is responsible for managing the scope, schedule, and budget of the installation phase of the WTG package. Close day to day interaction with other CVOW Project Managers, Site Construction team, and the Commissioning Manager is expected. The WTG Installation Project Manager will be required to ensure all components are transported, pre-assembled and installed according to the project schedule and to support commissioning as needed. The candidate will be required to work with the WTG prime contractor to ensure the transportation, pre-assembly, installation, and commissioning activities meet the Owner’s requirements as well as working with the Wind Turbine Installation Vessel (WTIV) provider.

The candidate will be required to be stationed at the pre-assembly site located at Portsmouth Marine Terminal (PMT) in Virginia starting at the end of Q1-2025 until the closure of the installation campaign projected by Q1 2027. Remote work for the right candidate can be accommodated only until Q1-2025, after which, the Project Manager must be stationed at PMT.

Responsibilities:

• Project management of offshore turbine installation package through engineering, construction, commissioning and final take over.

• Management of offshore construction schedule.

• Serve as the primary communication interface with relevant Contractors.

• Management of interfaces between packages, such as Port logistics, Foundation and Cables installation, WTIV, Commissioning and Offshore logistics.

• Support interface with the Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) and Certified Verification Agent (CVA) for the project.

• Control and management of installation contracts.

• Risk management of offshore turbine installation.

• Stay informed about status of the manufacturing of components for Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) including Towers, Nacelles and Blades as well as some of the corresponding subcomponents.

• Monitor the transportation of components for Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) including Towers, Nacelles and Blades as well as associated subcomponents from the corresponding manufacturing facilities to the staging site at PMT.

• Act as the Owner Representative on site and occasionally visit manufacturing facilities located in Europe and USA for fabrication and installation of grillage & seafastening material as well as other equipment needed to execute the scope of work.

• Monitor and manage progress during pre-assembly works for towers at PMT.

• Monitor and manage loadout of components onto WITV for offshore installation.

• Review of Method Statements, Lifting Plans, Mobilization and Demobilization plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), inspection reports and completion certifications.

• Lead-by-example with safety, environmental, compliance, and quality-oriented attitude.

• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

• Administrative:

• The PM will self-manage travel between assigned sites as required, if multiple sites are included in the job posting specifics.

Preferred Years of Experience:

• 5+ years of Project Management in Offshore wind projects managing installation of Wind Turbine Generator projects

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred electrical, mechanical, civil, maritime or industrial systems disciplines). Equivalent work experience in lieu of an engineering degree may be considered.

Are there any specific companies/industries you’d like to see in the candidate’s experience?

• Must have prior experience on major capital projects (100M+) in the nuclear industry as a project manager handling/managing fuel handling system.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

• Experience in offshore wind construction is desirable.

• Experience with managing projects involving operation of jack-up vessels is desirable.

• Experience managing projects involving installation of WTGs is desirable.

• Ability to travel (domestic and internationally) as required.

• Proficient with interpreting technical drawings, documents & management reports.

• Ability to lead and manage multiple competing work objectives.

• Ability to effectively communicate in English.

• Ability to work as part of a diverse, international team, influencing decisions and reacting positively to challenges as the project evolves.

• Ability to obtain GWO certification.

• Ability to work in an offshore environment.
