Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing processes related to green hydrogen and chlor alkali production. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient and safe operation of our technologies, contributing to the advancement of sustainable industrial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Process Engineer provides subject matter expertise within process engineering team and work on the basic and detail engineering for electrolysis systems, in particular for green hydrogen (AWE), chlor-alkali and HCl electrolysis
- Produces deliverables as required to fulfill project needs either as an individual contributor or as part of a team of engineers and designers, dependent upon project size and scope
- Project Process deliverables will include but are not limited to:Basis of Design, Flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), heat and mass balances, material selection diagrams, equipment lists, consumer lists, process control strategies, lists of utility consumption, process data for equipment, fluid lists, line lists, operation manual, etc
- Assists in the coordination and support of design activities between disciplines to ensure a correct and comprehensive design package
- Serves as a technical contact for client, design team, third-party, and vendor communication related to Process Design
- Participates and assists in model, design, maintenance, and operability reviews
- Ensures compliance with specifications and codes for North American installations
- Reviews and comments on packaged equipment design drawing packages developed by third-party suppliers
- Assists with third-party supplier interface as required
- Checks drawings, specifications, and calculations produced by client, design team, suppliers, and equipment / skid unit providers
- Assists Procurement with RFQ and RFP packages to procure process equipment as required for each project
- Provides technical input into vendor review and selection process including participation in shop audits
- May work in a global project team set-up and communicates with teams in oversea offices
- May work for a limited period on site for commissioning activities and interfaces to on-site contractors
Required Skills/Abilities:
- The position requires a comprehensive, professional knowledge of chemical processes, specifically of electrolysis technology, including static equipment and piping systems
- Profound knowledge of process simulation tools like ASPEN Plus, or others
- Knowledge of API, ISA, CSA, ANSI and ASME standards
- The successful candidate will be proficient using Microsoft Office software and operating in a team office environment
- The candidate will also be proficient in communicating throughout the project team and in working with team members in all disciplines to produce a comprehensive engineering package
- Knowledge and use of data-based engineering tools like SmartPlant (SPPID) and AutoCAD design tools is a plus
- Candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to complete project deliverables with minimal supervision
Qualifications/Education:
- Must be a licensed PE
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- 4-5 years of related experience
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
