Position Overview

The Financial Reporting team is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join the team. The position reports to the Financial Reporting Manager and will partner closely with other stakeholders at the Company’s headquarters in Arlington and across different business units globally as a key point of contact for accounting issues and to support various accounting deliverables. The position is primarily responsible for assisting in the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and the rules and regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission. To assist in the preparation of SEC (10-K/10-Q) and other public filings, including the coordination and preparation of required disclosure information for 100+ business units world-wide. To assist in identifying and communicating the impacts of new or proposed accounting interpretations, pronouncements, or other technical literature to key stakeholders. To assist with the implementation of process improvements, including system reporting upgrades, optimizing data collection, and improving financial analysis.

Key Skills

  • Able to research, interpret, and apply technical accounting concepts (thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP), ensuring compliance with accounting standards and principles
  • Able to understand and comply with SEC reporting rules to assist with preparing and analyzing quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Exposure to SAP BPC, or comparable consolidation systems, Wdesk, and Microsoft 365 products (Word, Excel, and Power BI in particular)
  • Aptitude for understanding accounting systems and consolidations logic
  • Able to identify opportunities for process improvements and show initiative to implement solutions, preferably through the use of digital tools
  • Excellent documentation skills – attention to detail, rigorous work paper standards
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated and strong organizational skills – able to plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments and work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA strongly

Experience

  • 2 to 4 years of relevant accounting experience with Big 4 public accounting or public/private mix
  • Current relevant experience in preparation and review of SEC filings in a multi- environment
  • Large public company U.S. GAAP accounting experience
  • Exposure to complex technical accounting issues – impairments, acquisitions, divestiture accounting, business combinations, revenue recognition, leases, consolidation, equity method accounting, etc.
  • Experience implementing process improvement projects and/or digital transformation initiatives
