The successful candidate will work directly with energy team members to develop and implement energy, water, greenhouse gas/carbon emission, and strategies and initiatives to support our commercial office and industrial real estate clients.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Understand commercial building HVAC systems and emerging high-performance alternatives systems that may be used in energy retrofits.
- Review ARCH and MEP drawings for existing buildings and systems
- Lead in the development of energy saving strategies and the identification of energy efficiency measures for existing buildings using spreadsheet for calculations of energy/cost savings and return on investment.
- Perform ASHRAE Level I & ASHRAE Level II Energy Audits in existing buildings
- Experience with energy modeling tools is a plus
- Provide consultation to clients or other engineers on topics such as climate control systems, energy modeling, data logging, building automation systems, lighting or daylighting design, sustainable design, and energy auditing
- Understand energy efficiency and sustainability ordinances and associated requirements for various cities and states, including but not limited to NYC, Boston, DC, Chicago, Saint Louis, Denver, California, and Philadelphia
- Support the capabilities of Cushman & Wakefield and managed buildings to apply for utility or other local incentives
- Provide written technical and non-technical reports for program compliance and ownership review
- Engage with clients as the lead energy manager. Build and maintain key customer relationships to create opportunities for client growth
- Provide project team leadership. Direct, oversee, and support your project team working on client engagements. Function well when working in interdisciplinary teams that include technical and non-technical staff
- Serve as a supervisor to one or more direct reports. Manage direct report(s)’s performance, cultivate professional growth, and evoke creative and innovative thinking from team members while helping them achieve career goals
- Regularly review client deliverables for quality control and budget accountability, ensuring the work is accurate, on time, on budget while meeting the client’s needs
- Proactively participate in business development efforts to grow Cushman & Wakefield’s ESG practice
- Provide insight and thought leadership on decarbonization trends and best practices to the broader market—to include potential publication, public speaking, conference presentation, and other opportunities
- Help shape the trajectory of Cushman & Wakefield’s ESG practice—one of the fastest-growing areas of our business—with lots of opportunities to grow as a leader, expert, and mentor
- Perform all other duties as needed and assigned
- 50% travel required
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience developing and administering successful sustainability or ESG programs with a particular focus on greenhouse gas emissions reductions, preferably in commercial building portfolios or other investment portfolios
- Carbon footprints—including methodologies, calculations, and guidance such as the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard
- Carbon reduction targets and disclosures—including Science-Based Targets, CDP, carbon neutrality, net zero, TCFD, SFDR, renewable energy commitments, etc.
- Decarbonization strategies—including energy efficiency, renewable energy, green power procurement, renewable energy certificates (RECs), and carbon offsets
Passion for deploying decarbonization solutions to drive rapid adoption of clean energy and sustainable practices across the U.S. economy
Entrepreneurial spirit and proven ability to help develop, sell, and deploy innovative business models while operating in highly dynamic “make it up as you go along” business environments
Comfort with managing data-driven tasks in Excel and other software platforms, including some complex calculations and estimation methods
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to lead internal and client meetings
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
Ability to effectively manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects at the same time
High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) to effectively review and generate reports, graphs, and presentations
Strong project management skills
A self-motivator with a strong work ethic and problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively manage a team and delegate tasks
Ability to Travel up to 12 days per month
Knowledge and Experience:
- Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree or related work experience
- At least 6 years of applicable work experience in a related field
- At least 2 years of experience managing people and teams, specifically serving as a direct supervisor to staff, overseeing work and performance, motivating, providing feedback, performing staff reviews, setting clear goals and expectations, and other people management administrative tasks
Optional but Beneficial Skills:
- Knowledge of supply chain sustainability and lifecycle assessment
- Direct experience in energy, asset, and/or portfolio management within the commercial real estate industry
- Passion for building amazing tools in Microsoft Excel

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
The compensation for the position is: $93,500.00 – $110,000.00
